Where did you get your ladder? I've seen several but couldn't tell which to get.

Are the red/white reflector strips add-on or 2014 OEM?

Thanks. Noticed when I checked the Amazon site that it says st-st in the title but then in the description, it says "Manufactured from thick gauge aluminum tubing". For that money, I'm betting st-st.

Does it hook on the top edge of the door and bolt to the bottom?

Hooks over top, slide left and right to get angles just right so bottom attachment points touch the door (it has a specific place where all 4 points touch just right) drill two pilot holes in the door, then screw it down.

Negative: can't open left door all the way around and have magnet hold it open, would have been nice if it mounted just a bit to the left so the ladder hit the door stop instead of the side of van when open all the way. I've heard of one ladder that includes a stop extension so there may be better choice.

I can put a magnet to it today and let you know is SS or AL

You do realize that magnets generally won't stick to stainless steel either…

Technical explanation for the curious— feel free to ignore if you're not curious…

Quote:
There are several families of stainless steels with different physical properties. A basic stainless steel has a 'ferritic' structure and is magnetic. These are formed from the addition of chromium and can be hardened through the addition of carbon (making them 'martensitic') and are often used in cutlery. However, the most common stainless steels are 'austenitic' - these have a higher chromium content and nickel is also added. It is the nickel which modifies the physical structure of the steel and makes it non-magnetic.

Thanks for all the info.

If it's aluminum, it's probably anodized which is generally non-conductive while the st-st would be conductive.

I'm betting the ladder is polished st-st.
