HELP, which one should I buy 2010 vs 2013 interstate
Hi,
I have been researching the interstates for some time, and now I need some help.
I have found good deals on both a 2010 and a 2013 model. Cost difference is 14K. Which would you have?
Thanks for the help.

Hmmm, $14K doesn't seem to be much of a difference (see the thread titled "How many miles do you have..."). Is the 2013 a used unit too?

If the 2010 is based on the Sprinter 2500 (8550# GVWR) then the choice would be obvious to me. Go with the newer one, which is based on the Sprinter 3500 (11030# GVWR).
If the 2010 Sprinter is also a Sprinter 3500, then there are other factors to consider. Such as floor plan (twin bed, lounge, lounge/wardrobe).
Does the 2010 have an onboard generator? Back then generators were optional, I think. What about a solar panel (if that matters to you)?
How old are the tires? If they're nearly 5 years old on the 2010, you'll be buying new ones within a year.
For that matter, how old are the batteries? You might be buying new house AND chassis batteries right away on the 2010.
You may find after looking at these and other factors that the price difference isn't so large after all.

For $14K and all other things being equal, I'd go for the 2013. In addition to what Protag mentioned, the 2013 has some upgrades such as the nav/radio, Durabright wheels, polished st-st grill, etc. Without knowing more specifics, it's hard to make a more informed choice.

Also the 2013 likely has a Magnum Inverter/Charger which is much better than the Tripp-Lite in the 2010. But check it to be sure as I learned that not all 2013's necessarily have the Magnum Inverter/Charger.

I also upgraded my charger to a 3 stage smart charger. No warrantee issuers just wanted a better charger to go with my AGM's.

Not sure if it was warranty or mor operational design faults. I spend a lot of time in it traveling and working on the computer. Looked like the batteries never could keep up with the charge or I needed to readjust the dip switches and that is a job and a half lying on the belly with glasses trying to change settings. I hope it will be better with the magnum I guess I find out soon.

Thanks for the great ideas to ask, I called the owner of the 13 yesterday and she said that she made a mistake, it a 2012, does that change anything. It still seems like a good deal.
What I know of the 2010: 2010 Airstream Interstate 3500 EXT 22' - Convertible lounge - White ext with Sand Pearl int. Included: battery house, AC 13500 w/wall thermostat, Alcoa aluminum rims, video upgrade 19" rear, LP generator, Counter and table top - Corian, Sand Pearl Int Upgrade, coffee maker. No solar panels. needs new tires.
Are the solar panels that much of a benefit for trickle charging?
The 2012: has 22K miles, in-motion satellite, 3M film everything else she said was stock.

My stock solar panel keeps my house and chassis batteries at 100% when in storage w/ everything turned off. Of course the BIM and I believe the CO/Propane detector are both still on. Takes about 20-25 amp-hours/day to handle that. So unless you can plug in the shore power or drive it for about an hour, I'd go w/ the solar panel.
They both should have had their Service B done by now.
FWIW, I'd still go w/ the 2012 . BTW I didn't even know they had the Extended version in 2010.

Yeah, I think the ETX version didn't come out until 2013. The one Raddoc is looking at might be a 2013 Airstream, built on a 2012 MB chassis.

So none are extended so I would take the 2010 and spend the money I saved on modification like a nice solar system.

2012 would still be under Mercedes warranty unless it has high miles. I would go for that for peace of mind.
