Good idea. Is it generally safe to leave some things behind, like the hitch carrier and the contents, when you make day trips?

You know, some would say not to, but we do it all the time and have never had a problem, never had anything stolen or bothered.

We tidy up, stick anything that may not want too much sunshine or could blow away under the picnic table, and leave the cord hanging on the connector box.

Most campsites are safe enough, but it's never a bad idea to stop by the main gate on the way out and let the camp host know that you're coming back and you left some stuff at your campsite. That way, the park maintenance folks won't think you've abandoned the stuff and pack it away wherever they do their lost-and-found.
