Thumbs up FYI - MB/FL Roadside Assistance

I'm going to be picking up a new 2010 Airstream Interstate 3500 (2008 FL chassis) in Eugene Oregon and driving it back to Alaska through BC and YT. Knowing that official Sprinter service could be hundreds of miles away if I had a breakdown I submitted the question about Roadside Service in remote locations via the Sprinter website.

Here is the response I received:

"Thank you for your additional email.
In response to your inquiry, for warranty repairs, Roadside Assistance will provide towing to the closest authorized dealer, even if the distance is several hundred miles.

We hope you find this information helpful.

Sincerely,
Susan C.
Mercedes-Benz-Sprinter USA"

Notice the "even if...." part. I hope I don't have to test this!

I guess it is a Mercedes-Benz, after all.

If you have a warranty-related breakdown driving home with a brand-new Airstream Interstate/Mercedes Benz Diesel, it will be a very, very bad day, Wayne. Can't hardly imagine that.

We have 71,000+ miles on our Interstate with a 5 cylinder, turbo-charged, MB diesel, and just had our first issue last month with a faulty turbo-resonator that was replaced under warranty. We are told these engines are made to easily go several hundred thousand miles with just routine maintenance. (And, we hope to put that many on it before we're through. )

Might consider AAA, or some such counterpart, should you hit something in the road or have another unforeseen mishap, as they will come to you, wherever you are. We have had AAA since our first RV in 2002, and wouldn't be without it.

Travel safe,

Maggie
