Furnace crackling

If this has been discussed please just point me to thread, but our 2016 AI has exhibited crackling in the furnace. Not all the time, but often enough that it causes concern. Is this a natural occurrence? Or, is something getting ready to ignite? There's no smell associated with it, and no operation failure at all. Just the noise.

Just when you first start it and/or when it shuts down?

Does it sound like it's metal expanding or contracting when warming up or cooling down, like a car engine?

It doesn't happen when we first start it. It runs a while (varies from short while to longer) then we turn it off because don't know what's happening and if it's being harmed. It sounds a bit like a crackling log fire. Like maybe something is getting real hot and popping. It's random, quick crackling sounds; not a steady pattern.

Is there no fan (blower) running?

Could be the metal expanding and contracting. It probably wouldn't hurt to just take it to an rv shop for a quick look for safety sake.

Yes, the fan is blowing out hot air. Since it just woke me up my first thought about a better description is a high pitched pinging sound. We expect to look at the vent and see tiny pieces of metal flying out - but none does. Everything seems to work fine - except for this noise.
We're traveling in Wisconsin (hence the need for heat during these 50 deg nights). Should we try to find an RV repair, or rather an electrician/heater repair?

I have a 2015 model Airstream and the first time I used the furnace it crackled but after using a few hours it went away and has not returned. If I remember correctly also had a slight smell as it was burning off all the new I guess. I do hear the furnace ignite and the fan running.

Could be something in the fan itself bouncing around.

Sounds like the fan blade(s) are hitting something. Have a tech take a look at it - probably an easy fix.

RV shop would be the better option, it sounds like it's just the metal expanding and contracting, especially as new components get settled from manufacture and are being used for the first time.
