Perhaps you're thinking of Lewster, who owns a non-AI Sprinter and has "professor emeritus" status here on the Forums because he knows so bloody much that we can't afford to let him go.

Besides, this particular thread is called "Fans of Airstream Interstate" and a former AI owner qualifies as a fan as long as he doesn't badmouth Interstates just because he is a former owner.

Marc, btw the 12 volt roof AC connected to vehicle electrical system is a regular option of any Sprinter van issued by Mercedes factory. If you ever noticed on non-Airstream sprinter roofs, in the middle of the roof, there is AC with cover colored in white - this is the one, and it has separate vents with freon from underhood compressor, so it operates from the dashboard, and without generator of course.

I considered that but the one I'm looking at for the Transit is a 70,000 BTU and uses a separate compressor from the front A/C. It amazes me that anyone would think that a 13,500 BTU A/C unit could come close to cooling the rear of the AI or any metal box of comparable size. Interestingly enough, a couple looking at mine this week who currently have a Class A, had to add a third unit to keep it cool.

Someone will buy it at that price. Last fall, we got our 2011 with 25K miles in the low eighties.

- Protagonist, we are not in Russia thus this is a freedom of speach here . For example, personally I am not ashamed badmouthing a lot of airstream factory craftsmanship flaws in AI, although I really love my bus and I am a fan number one of it.

You missed that key word, "just because he's a former owner."

Voicing legitimate complaints is not badmouthing in my opinion, and I'll gladly read legitimate complaints all day long with an eye toward solving them, working around them, or learning to live with them as best we can, as appropriate. But voicing complaints just for the sake of complaining is another matter altogether, and something that marks the complainer as no longer a fan.

Yes.
All you say do make sense.
I missed a "just" due to my North-American English as a second language.

Manual crank for your awning, in case the motor quits working when the awning is extended and you need to retract it. Too short to use from ground level, but it doesn't come with a stepladder.
