Beautiful!

Our hope is to never have to trade ours in. With the diesel engine, we should be able to go til we can't go no more!

I love my 2006 Interstate (rear dinette). The new Interstates have many small improvements that I wish I had, but the floorplans leave me perplexed. Three or four captain's chairs instead of more storage? For daytripping, great! For camping, give me the 2006 floorplan.

Our 2011 I-3500, White, Lounge, with light wood took us from Tulsa to Banff, Canada no problems, all fun. Its called GT, for Grand Tripster. It sure beats my '60's VW bus. It even gets better fuel mileage. it is resting up for next year' s road adventures. Have a Merry Christmas, fellow Knights-of-The-Open Road.

And Merry Christmas to you.

We are at 106,000+ miles, and couldn't be happier with ours.

The only way to really see the country.

Don't know what made the 2006 floorplan different (never saw one), but I find the Lounge/Wardrobe layout on my 2012 (with three captain's chairs up front) to be ideal for me. The wardrobe closet shifts the entire galley forward, putting the refrigerator directly across the aisle from the third captain's chair. Access to the fridge is so much easier when I can sit in the third chair to reach the rear of the fridge shelves, instead of kneeling on arthritic knees in the aisle. Plus the slide-out counter extension right behind the driver's seat makes a great desk for my laptop computer when I swivel that seat to face the rear.

Any Class B van conversion is a compromise between storage space and living space. Before I bought my Interstate, I also checked out the Roadtrek Adventurous and Winnebago Era, both also built on a long-wheelbase Sprinter. Of the three, the Interstate had more and better storage options, without losing much in the way of living space. That plus the obvious difference in the quality of fit and finish are what convinced me to pay the extra money for an Airstream.

We have an 06, called a "mid-bath", with a rear lounge/sleeping area.

Exactly what we wanted, the sleeping area in the back and galley area to the left as you enter.

We have a full screen for the rear doors, attaches with velcro around and zips up the middle. Perfect for beaches and other ideal areas.

We have that table-on-pedestals in the back, that we traveled with once and then removed to our garage. We don't need it or use it, and it takes up the entire area under a rear bench.

We now use that area for storage of shoes, clothing, etc.

Our 2010 3500 is a twin bed version and we like it a lot! The 1 extra seat is perfect for the dog to ride in and if we have a human passenger the dog is happy to sit on the floor. This layout is perfect for us but of course everyone has differend needs.

This is an awesome vehicle; I just wish it didn't make me so apprehensive about long term reliability. Maybe I should quit reading the Sprinter-Forum?

Did you make your rear screen? If you bought it, can you tell me the manufacturer?

Thanks,
Wayne

They do, indeed!

When we got our 06 in 07, the rear screens could be ordered on new models as an accessory, but weren't available for ours. The rear door screen was the first accessory purchase we made.

Nice to see there are sliding-door screens available, and will be on the older models soon. Thanks for the info!

I like to keep the side door open when the weather is pleasant, just so much easier, but then there are those annoying mosquitoes, bees, stink-bugs, etc.

Our next semi-major purchase!
