Door stop alternatives

There seems to be a couple of alternatives to limiting the the size of the slider door opening on the Interstate 3500 with alternative door stops. Has anyone tried some of the alternatives to the Airstream limiting package lately? If so how is it working out?

I got the one that mounts at the bottom and it works well. Only problem is that there is no bumper so that one has to be careful not to open it too hard. I got it to limit the opening of the door to just to the front edge on the 2nd row seat to help keep the cool air in. Opening the door fully would require removing the stop.

The later Sprinters have a spring-loaded detent that mounts at the top and the detent extends between the two rollers. This allows the door to be opened fully by going past the detent. It would require drilling a large hole to mount it.

The local upfitter found a power door operator that fits entirely in the door but will run about $4K installed. As much as I'd like to have that option, just too rich.

4K is a little much for my newly retired lifestyle (two weeks) and I don't like the idea of drilling a large hole, so I may look at the bumper.

I guess one could always mount a rubber stop. I don't know that I have ever needed the full opening. I'd rather have a smaller opening allowing a more convenient screen unit installation.

The only time one would need the full opening would be for access to the electricals or black water sprayer check valve.

Let me know if you need a pic of mine.

Here's a couple. As you can see, you can position it anywhere along the step. I need to look at a Sprinter w/ that style to see if there's a bump stop.

Where and how did you get it? Airstream has a rubber stop that would work. I am looking at a different type of stop. I'll send a pic as soon as I get it installed. It is done differently than your's. For my 2010, the rubber stop part number is 382174.

I got mine at my Sprinter dealer where I bought the AS Interstate.

Be sure the one you're getting has the "hold open" latch so it doesn't try to shut when the RV is headed downhill.

Sprinter Van Sliding Door Stop

This is an option that a lot of people on the sprinter forum are using. It's very simple and works extremely well as an intermediate door stop for the sliding door:
Norton Fabrications, Inc. | Sprinter Van Door Stop

Cheers,
Jesse

Thanks for the link. Looks like an elegant, inexpensive solution. I just ordered one!
