DIY two-stage door opening

It was very simple for me to order online this item for $39 including shipping.

Should be simply glued on the rail where the sliding wheel runs, in order to provide an intermediary stopping of the side sliding door, if you don't want to fully open it.

Does engine had experience with such stopper?

I don't have any experience with this product since my 2013 Interstate came with an Airstream installed stop that hold the door about half way open.

This item was introduced on the Sprinter-Forum last summer by user "jbluetooth".

The discussion on how it performs starts on page 3 of the 8 page thread, link below.

Thank you Mr B and Mike for bringing this item to my attention. Just ordered the
third generation product from mfg. Norton Engineering in San Diego, California.
All the discussions seem positive and guaranteed for life of your ownership of the Sprinter. Not many warranties like that AEW

Is yours the spring-loaded ball at the top that allows the door to be bypassed and fully opened or the one at the bottom that stops the door midway but can't be bypassed?

Mike, thank you for the link to that thread.
Marc and Mike, what is your opinion of the factory made intermediate stopper, how well it works?

I like the intermediate stopper (Half-Stop) made by Airstream. It engages the Sprinter door latch so it will stay in the half open position no matter the incline.

Yes but you will have to attach it to the plastic above the lower track. I used screws and adhesive. The downside to the lower fixed intermediate stop is that there's no bump stop (so it just bangs into the stop) and you can't open the door fully w/o removing it. I've never had the need to remove it tho.

The one you show in the picture is probably the better option for DIY.

Oh I know what you mean! I have it installed by Airstream, and that is kinda bracket with the pin, where the original door hook is clicks. Yes, it opens the door I'd say for three-quotes, and you cannot open it fully. Yes yes, I got it..

Yes Marc it is what we are talking about.
But if you unscrew and move this bracket more to the right to minimize the door opening, it wouldn't allow you to fully open the door, and you won't be able to access the hidden place.

However, the current Sprinter models have an option of "two stage sliding door opening". It is interesting how they do that, I've never seen.

It's the spring loaded ball located at the top track I mentioned in Post #4. It could probably be DIY but would require drilling about a 3/4" hole to put it in. But it does allow the door to be fully opened if desired just as the one you found. I've just never found the need to fully open the door since they reinstalled the black tank flush check valve properly.

Once I have a time I'm gonna search and look to that spring-loaded ball at MB dealer, as it is interested how it was designed.
