Crisis - What Color Interior - 2016 Lounge EXT

Ok, I know, these are high class problems. But doesn't mean that they aren't torture when you get hung up on them.

First post, but have been lurking and searching here for last 3 months. This site has been an invaluable source of information.

We just ordered a 2016 Interstate Lounge EXT, pretty much loaded, including the new air bag system. It is Silver. We are excited.

The current interior configuration is light Asian sand wood (i think that is the name) cabinets with black seats. However, we are rethinking. We originally picked this combination because we think the light cabinets open up the cabin, but with the oyster seats, we think it looks too washed out. But now we are starting to think that this combination will be too black-and-white looking (?)

The other combination that we are considering is Columbian walnut with oyster seats. We original had ruled this out because of concerns with the lighter seats showing stains, etc., but we do like the way it looks.

We will use this coach rarely for camping, but primarily for road tripping with our two boys ages 8 and 10. So if you were buying with the silver exterior, would you get:

1) Asian light sandwood w/black seats - or
2) Columbian walnut w/oyster seats?

We have pretty much ruled out other combinations for being too washed out or too dark.

Thanks for your opinions! We know that this is a personal choice but just a bit hung up, and sometimes it helps to hear from others with experiences/opinions or from a resale point of view if you were buying it.

Thanks again

Welcome aboard.

We love our Onyx with black seats. Not too dark for us.

We liked the way that the black seats are all black vs. white seats with black seat belts etc., plus all of our cars have ebony or black leather.

In the end, I think you will love whatever combo you choose.

Oh, and of your choices above, I would probably go with #2 and only because of the dark cabinetry over the light.

You know this is only going to make you more confused

We have 2013 with the darker cabinets, and the off-white/oyster(?) seats. The oyster seats are not hard to keep clean. Dirt wipes right off, and with 2 dogs, we know dirt!! We think the darker cabinets look richer too, but sometimes wish we had the brighter white interior. It's a toss up. Whatever you chose, you'll be happy!

I clean with simple green and 1/2 distiller water.
Works great on side walls of interior too.

Glamper, when you say that you have darker cabinets, are they the Onyx (greyish black) or the Columbian Walnut (dark brown). Its hard to tell from the picture.

Has anyone seen/owned black seats with the light cabinets?

Thanks again, all very helpful info

I have the onyx and oyster combo ... I love it. At first, I thought I should get the black seats because I travel with dogs. But even with dogs, dirt is not really an issue and I like this look the best.

If I was looking to replace my Interstate, it would be Columbian walnut with light colored seats . It is one RICH looking combo. Black seats show lots of dust and light marks. Light colors always look cleaner.

We have the dark finish and the oyster seats and silver exterior. Real happy w/ it and always draws rave reviews when showing to others.

I use Griot's Interior Cleaner on everything after each trip. I do use Simple Green on the floor.

+1 on dark cabinets with light seats. The seats are surprisingly easy to keep clean and stand up well to a lot of abuse.

We have an older Interstate with cherry interior cabinets that blend in with the outdoors.

I like black seats. Is there a combination of dark cabinets and black seats? It will still feel airy due to all the windows.

Not sure if the 2016 choices are exactly the same as 2015, but here are some 2015's side by side for comparison, which might make the discussion easier. Our local Holiday World happened to have these three in stock the last time we visited. Someone else had a white Interstate / black Interstate thread a few months back with much the same anguished internal debate.

Great comparison pic.

Again, I chose far right when we ordered our van and would do it again.

Of the other 2 choices, no contest middle wins.

Have you seen them all in person?

While the one on the left leaves a more airy appearance, the middle one looks richer. If the oyster seats were hard to clean (they're not), I'd pick the one on the right.

We've seen them all and love them all. That's the problem :-)

I just changed the order to Oyster/Walnut. After I did, the dealer mentioned that it is the #1 combination in US, by volume. That made me feel even better about the decision. Thanks for all the input!
