NJG,

Protagonist is from there you might ask him.

Last time we were there we stayed in pvt home in Metaire close to the lake. They had a WBCCI Rally there at the time and we drove out to visit but it was raining steady.

I haven't actually checked out hotels in New Orleans to see if I could park my Interstate at any of them. Being a resident of the New Orleans metro area, I generally used my Honda for attending any in-town conferences.

Downtown hotels tend to rely on parking garages. Hotels in Metairie tend to have lots where vertical clearance isn't an issue, but that puts you several miles from downtown.

But your best bet is probably the French Quarter RV Resort, which is a Passport America urban campground very near to the downtown area. From there it is a short taxi ride to most conference venues.

Since FQRV can accommodate Class A motorhomes, you should have more than adequate room for an Interstate on their 30'◊60' sites. It's not cheap; prices per night (without PA discount) are $105 per night or $680 per week. The PA half-price discount only applies for one night, Mon-Thurs only. But that $105 un-discounted campground rate is actually cheaper than what a downtown hotel room costs (a room at the Hyatt would set you back about $200 per night).

I also recommend the French Quarter RV Resort. We stayed there a couple of years ago. Super clean, great facilities, good security and an easy walk to the French Quarter. Strongly recommend taking a cab to and from after dark. It is pricey, but location, location, location.

Just stayed at the Hyatt for 6 days in May. They have an attached parking garage but may want to check the 1301 Girod Street Parking Garage. There is an adjacent parking lot that I believe is part of their parking. Plenty of room for Interstate parking there and close to the Hyatt.

Don't take a cab, they are filthy. Take Uber. We tried the cab first then switched to Uber and wow what a difference. They will be there to pick you up within a matter of minutes in a newer, clean car instead of an old beat up, filthy cab.

Download the Uber app and get set up prior to your visit. Do it.
