Your Sprinter warranty is on both the same through MB Sprinter. On the coach stuff it could be not too bad and if there is anything wrong you still have warranty on it too and you service is only 15 minutes away.
Driving it back 1500 miles gives you a good idea about all the functions. If you buy form the dealer as I did some stuff did not show up until month later. $20k can get you lots of stuff for your Interstate. A good chance is that the batteries maybe bad from low discharge but you can now research and upgrade with some good stuff.
Good Luck.
Peter

FWIW, in 2010 I paid $89,500 total for a brand new 2010 Interstate that had an MSRP of $116,580.

Good luck with your deal!

Also FWIW, I bought mine in April this year and managed to get 18% off the MSRP. And I wasn't expecting it but I ended up with a 2014 model.
So play around with the figures before you make a move.
And good luck!
Peter

Thank you all for your info and advice! This is all great info to know to help us make a decision. And I love the advice on negotiating...name your price, and if they say no, write it down and tell them to call you if they change their minds. Simple and brilliant!

I'll let you know how this turns out.

On the used unit that is 1500 miles away, don't forget to add the cost of going to get the unit and the return trip.

Y'all are so smart! Bringing up stuff I never even thought about, like smog test!

Since we decided to pull the trigger and buy an rv, I'm getting very anxious to buy one and bring her home!

Husband and I will be the ones at the campgrounds that have no freakin' idea what we're doing, but we'll be having the greatest time! Already planning on getting mountain bikes and a travel guitar, and possibly an inflatable stand up paddle board.

So, if we can figure out how to not blow ourselves up with propane, not overflow the sewage into the rv, and not kill each other in that small space, life will be good!!

It's a 2013 dealer demo with 1500 miles on it. $118,000. They won't budge from there.
I bought mine new for $120,000 last October. The $20,000 difference for a new one you mentioned must be near full retail price.

Oops -- I should have read all the posts before replying.

So it's a 2013 dealer demo with 1500 miles on it for $118,000...

... or a 2013 used private sale unit with 13,000 miles for $98,000

c21bill has some good advise on buying the demo and 13,000 lightly used at $98,000 sounds pretty good. A tough choice, but either way the Interstate is a great vehicle. We are very pleased with ours and have 20,000 mile on it so far.

For what it's worth I did quite a bit of calling around and wound up purchasing my new 2014 extended lounge from Dave Arbogast RV in Ohio for 116,900 out the door. That's a long way from California but a nice road trip!

If you don't mind my asking, what was sticker on your unit?

It's not about what you paid, or what the MSRP was. If you're happy with the deal you got, who cares what kind of deal someone else got? It's not like any of us is Contestant #3 on "Let's Make a Deal." Everyone who buys an Interstate, at a price he or she can live with, is a winner.
