Buy used and sell in one year?

Hi friends,

My wife and I are considering buying a used Sprinter, traveling for 6-12 months and then selling the Sprinter. Is this feasible from a resale standpoint? Is there always a market for a used Sprinter? Any guesses on how much of a financial hit we will take on the resale. Any advice is most welcomed. Thanks!

Greg

i have met travelers from overseas that bought a used MH from Cruse America with an agreed upon price to sell it back to Cruse America when they were finished with it. This let them know upfront what the cost would be and no back to the wall when they were headed home. They did it here and in Australia on their around the world trip

You might consider something along this line.

The first thing that comes to mind is the hit you will take on sales tax and registration. The time of year that you buy and sell will also be a factor. There's not a great depreciation on the used Airstream Trailers within one year, don't know about the Sprinters.

I think it all depends on how you buy it and how you sell it. If you negotiate a good deal up front and then do a great job retailing it yourself I could see owning one for very little ... but if you are not a bargain shopper/tough negotiator up front and then you just sell it to a dealer for wholesale on the back end it could be a HUGE hit. I've yet to figure out what the used market is really like for these nor have I seen much discussion about it ... though I have seen a couple close on Ebay for what seemed like very low prices to me.

Actually there is a very pertinent discussion going on about used values right now that I just found:
