blind spot assist on 2016 Grand tour not working
HI all, any help would be appreciated with solving a problem on at 2016 Grand tour (2015 sprinter 3500 chassis). The blind spot detection worked until a month ago.. then it stopped working. the yellow lights on the side mirrors stay on all the time. mercedes in canada looked at it and said i would have to take it to mercedes in USA as the warranty does not apply in canada. it only has 24000Miles on it.
any help or guidance would be appreciated.. thanks..Cameron

Can't help you with your problem, but my blind spot has detector never failed.
I've been married to her for 40 years.

We had the same problem. Since they work on sensors if the sensors get dirty at all you will get an error. If you haven't tried already just wipe off the sensors which are found in the bumpers. Hope this helps

blind spot assist on 2016 Grand tour not working
Our 2016 GT needed a new sensor on the right rear. Initially MB Orlando said I would have to pay the labor to remove the after market bumper. An email to Airstream fixed that.
This is the email:

Mike,
We are an authorized upfitter so they will cover the labor of the bumper removal and re-install to replace Mercedes parts. When they submit the claim that is part of the authorized labor. If you have any more questions or they do not agree with this information please have them call me. My contact information is below. Have a great day.

With properly adjusted mirrors, especially w/ the secondary convex mirror, there are no blind spots.

15,000 miles on my 2016 and mine aren't working. Yellow triangles tried cleaning the sensors - no luck. I have to get it to the shop they have been out about three months.

For me the solve was to remove the trailer electrical adapter I had left in. 7 pin to 4 pin adapter left in disables the blind spot. Dumb user error that Mercedes tech couldn't figure out. Trial and error did work to figure it out.

Exactly. Having a fisheye rearview camera and two mirrors on each door, one convex and one flat, means no blind spots.
By the time a vehicle disappears from the rearview camera, it appears in the flat side mirror. By the time it disappears from the flat side mirror, it appears in the convex side mirror. By the time it disappears from the convex side mirror, it appears through the front window. By the time it disappears from the front window, it appears through the windshield.
The detectors are nice, if you've got them, but they're an aid to the driver's awareness, not a substitute for driver awareness. Not that anyone here on the Forums uses them as a substitute, but I have seen drivers on the road that clearly do because they never look at a mirror before changing lanes.

I have a special loaded 7-way connector to operate the remote for my lights in my towed Smart. I have to remember to get under and remove it when I am not towing the Smart so that my sensors will work. For a while I thought my sensors had failed when I first inserted the loaded connector, then I saw some comments in this forum that led me to understand what was happening.

While I agree that the mirrors on these rigs are amazing, as a newbie, I want all the nannies that would keep me safe on the road.
During the test drive I made sure I tried most of these features.
Great to know that a connector will disable them. I don't plan to tow anything that would require to use a plug... but great to know.
Waiting for my AI to arrive is going to be such a long wait... luckily I have not ran out of threads to read, lol.
