I carry three hoses with me always. Fresh water hose, black water clean up hose, and utility hose.

For me, it's two. White one for fresh water and green one for black tank flush, grey dump, spraying down the vehicles, etc....

Ditto

PS -- Regarding earlier posts about removing the black tank back-flush anti-siphon valve -- such a move is reckless and irresponsible if you hook up to city water IMO. It is probably against the law too . . . Our plastic valve failed and the dealer sent a new one under warranty, but I haven't had time to swap it in, as this will require taking our dinette seat apart. Airstreams historically never had such a back-flush system, and we do fine without it, as did thousands of earlier AS owners. Keep It Simple, Stu . . .

Me too. I tried this last week at home and it seems working for me. I can hear the water spray from black tank inside the toilet. I did with black tank valve off, and waited for the tank to be i think 2/3 full then opened the valve.

Im curious for the ones that failed, how did the water penetrated the inside? Isn't the pipe goes directly to the black tank and everything is under the rv?

Pipe goes inside the shell by the back of cabinets, then down to the tanks.

Yes, 73shark has it right. I have a shutoff valve at the outlet end of the hose. By opening this valve as the last step in connecting things and closing it as the first step in disconnecting things I keep any nasty stuff on the downstream end of this valve. The valve then goes into the hose reel space - along with all the adaptors for an airtight connection between the macerator hose end and the sewer pipe. If a person was worried about contamination between the outlet side and inlet side of the shut-off I suppose you could throw it in a bleach solution every so often.

here is an example of the valve of which I speak - though mine is 99 cent plastic one:

Mine had twist connectors that were loose and leaking. Tightened them and all was well.
