HEIN - thanks for adding your battery boxes to the discussion. I looked at them before I set off on building my own. Unfortunately the area in front of the rear tires on our Interstates is already jammed with stuff.

BOB - in my case if I were doing this over today - might go the route that Airstream is now using to install two batteries in sheet metal trays, similar to hein's design, on each side behind the rear wheels. This area is the only significant free space under an Interstate.
