This B van is great....and we did see the Murphy Bed in action. My question was if it breaks can you hand crank it.....the sales man told me 1. it will never break and 2. there are 4 ways it gets power.....that wasn't exactly my question......I meant if the mechanism breaks not the power to the mechanism...does it have a fail safe way of going up or down?

While I was wowed by this model, I don't think it would work for us because I tend to turn in earlier than my husband and with the bed down, there is no workspace. Also, it seemed to me as though the bathroom took up a lot of space.

If we were thinking seriously of this B Van and that would be hard because of our Airstream club.....we would probably want the twin bed non slide unit....and it is $8000 cheaper.

I have a friend with a Leisure Vans Unity with the Murphy bed, and I can tell you on one occasion the bedding became trapped in the mechanism. He had to drive to the dealer - four and a half hours away - to get it resolved.
My wife and I decided against a Unity because we wanted the simplicity of a pure Class B van; we didn't want to have to open any slide to make up the bed or the dinette. We like to be able to stop anywhere and sleep within the walls of the standard van.

My point exactly....rarely do you camp next door to the dealer.

Did looked at it too. Was not impressed with the Murphy bed and its location in the van. If you want to sleep you have to put the slide out.
Loved the screen on the door to bad the Interstate does not have this screen.

Eurocampers.com sells aftermarket screens for Sprinter side and rear doors. While you're at it, you might want to look at their selection of screens for the roll-up windows on the driver and passenger doors, and their windshield covers as well.

I love having a screen door and now that you mention it, we did notice it on the Unity.....and it is a little wider aft the front seats.....so it feels very roomy inside.....but, alas, it is not aluminum. We did not see the non slide version so not sure it felt so roomy and slides do introduce more things that can go wrong. Am hoping Jackson Center is taking note. paula

You won't get much aluminium in the Interstate - only the ceiling covering is aluminium as a tribute to the travel trailers.
Since this thread relates to a comparison with the Roadtrek, it's interesting to note Roadtrek have just announced the TS-Adventurous model with the following features:
Heated Floors
Dark Laminate Interior
Granite Counter tops
1350 watt Air Conditioner
Full Swivel second row captain seats
Integrated work station for laptop
State of the art touch pad electrical control package
LED strip lighting with dimming control
Rear mounted electrical and water hookups
New styling ground effects package
Raised appliances for ease of use
24 inch TV
Power awning with LED lights
Induction Cook top
Seats up to seven
Sleeps up to four
Four Season RVing
I hope Airstream takes note and starts introducing some real technology!
Peter
