Airstream Interstate Tool Kit

Pulled out my tool kit under the passenger footwell and can't indentify what the large eye screw is for.

Most European vehicles use a removable screw eye as a recovery point. The other end us usually covered by a little removable door on the bumper or somewhere close to that.

Hopefully you will never need that large eye bolt - it's for towing. I used mine to get on a flat bed tow truck at night in Baltimore area. I got the tow courtesy of Mercedes Road Side Assistance. I had to wait two hours for a properly sized flat bed with crew cab so they could take me with it to dealer where I picked up a loaner car.

Thanks Guys. That is what I thought it was but couldn't figure out where it went. I was looking under the front end. Just went out and looked, now I remember seeing the round access cover hole in the bumper.

And I believe it is explained in the owners manual. In my 2013 its page 270. Just happen to have it downloaded and on my computer.

Being modern vehicles, both my SPRINTER and MINI have tow hooks or loops.

At the start of my project I mounted a winch on the deck and was going to pull my Mini up onto the that way.

It turned out to be more trouble than it was worth ( truthfully, I mainly lost my jitters) and I now just drive the little guy up onto the Sprinter bed.
