Airstream 'How To' Touring Coach 2014

I came across this "How To" video on the Airstream u-Tube channel. It's for the 2014 model Interstates, but has many things that also apply to the older Interstates.

Description:
This is a fairly comprehensive video that explains how to access and use the majority of systems in an Airstream Touring Coach. The two large areas of focus are Hook-up and Interior Systems. We hope you find this video informative and beneficial.

Length: 14:20

Good video. It's actually better than the walk-through I got from my dealer. I'd love to see Airstream do more of these.

Great video. I noticed that when he retracted the macerator hose, he didn't show how difficult it is to get the end of it back inside.

Yes, I noticed that too. I've found that taking off the threaded disc at the end of the hose helps in getting back in without crimping/breaking the hose. It only took me repairing the hose once to figure that out!

I also remove the adapter disc and leave a loop of hose so I can get it back in compartment easier. These is some extra space on the inside above the door. I also like to use hot water from the outdoor shower to back flush the black tank.

Hope this attachment works....I took this photo to remind me how much loopto leave and orientation of things to get it ALL in the space. The black ring is to the right of the nozzle. Everything fits.Click image for larger version

Since I have access to the sanitary sewer in my garage, I fashioned an extension that screws into the white fitting and allows me to pump out at home at the end of the trip.

Ditto, did this as well. Only needed about a 5 foot extension to dump through one of my cleanouts.

After two full years of never once using that black hard rubber ring, I discarded it. The extra space freed up by discarding it definitely helps.

In its place, I bought a pair of 1½-pound wrist weights for exercise, that secure with Velcro. If I need to weight down the end of the hose to hold it in place, I wrap one of the wrist weights around the nozzle.

Slinky owners make do with a flat rock or tree branch to hold down the end of their slinky, but we macerator pump users aren't so limited.

Thanks for the video recommendation! I'm a new owner and have been searching for this. My dealer walk-through was not as thorough.

battery disconnect question

I watched this video and I am still confused about the battery disconnect switch near the door. When the switch is in the down position is that systems off, or when it is in the up position. Also is the red light supposed to go off when battery is disconnected or does it remain on? Seems like whether I put the switch down or up the same thing happens- the red light blinks for a bit and then remains solid on. help??

That does ring a bell.... Something about the motor not driving the disconnect switch all the way off.

Personally I think the "disconnect" switch provided by Airstream is useless since it really disconnects so little. What's really needed is a switch to completely disconnect the coach battery.

Amen to that......not sure what the value of the present switch really is.
