That last photo shows off the best feature of the Airstream Atlas over the Leisure Travel Vans. The attention to detail in the smallest areas, can you even see where the Mercedes body ends and the fiberglass airstream body starts?

This is unit one of maybe 500, and maybe they’re putting more attention to detail on this first unit, my LTV from 2007 seems to of had as much attention to detail. Perhaps it’s just when you first start out before you learn to economize. The LTVs that are here at the show you can see the bead of glue between the fiberglass and the Sprinter.

Looks like those last two photos did not rotate correctly posted from my iPhone. If they are not fixed I will repost when I get home from the show.

Another amazing difference with LTV is the key FOB for the Sprinter locks and unlocks all the doors except for the golf club closet near the back of the passenger side. So when you unlock with the key FOB you can just pull the basement doors open and when you walk away you just lock and everything‘s guaranteed locked. Snazzy

That's a nice looking rv. There will be buyers who will want it. Probably those who want to step down from trailer towing.

Did they leave off the rearview camera? I don't see it on the photo of the rear of the unit.

Don't see a screen door on the side entrance, either. Surely they could have added one?

And expensive? Is the price of $215,000 correct per those other threads?

Exterior design just doesn't live up to the Airstream name IMHO. The interior looks very nice, however I'm with FlyFishinRVr that there's not enough windows, especially with the Murphy bed blocking the side window behind the driver when it is up.

Fool proof way to take pictures with your iPhone that will post in the correct orientation:
There are really only 2 ways to take pictures with a cell phone:
1. Portrait: Phone straight up and down with the top of the phone at the top.
2. Landscape: Phone on its side with the volume buttons DOWN.
Keep this in mind and your pictures will always post in the correct orientation.
Also, once you have taken the picture and it is in the wrong orientation you can edit the picture - rotate to the correct orientation - within Photos on the iPhone.
Still not digging the Murphy bed...

If that's the MSRP, you're looking at maybe $175k to buy. I couldn't have afforded that when I was working for a living. I can afford it even less now that I'm retired. I've lost interest in this buggy, and probably won't even bother to look at one when it shows up on my dealer's lot. Unless my dealer offers free ice cream just for taking a look. I'll do a lot of pointless things for free ice cream!

Looks very nice.

Although maybe not our taste and far out of our budget I can see many folks being attracted to this.

From a manufacturing perspective it's good to branch out in manageable directions while still keeping the iconic look also.

Thank you for the photos.

I am just very disappointed with the floorplan. As far as I know there is only ONE floorplan and the bathroom is HUGE, waste of space in my opinion.
Regardless the price is just way out there....

Thanks very much for taking the pics and spending the time to get them posted. It's good to see this new beast in the wild.

Having said that, is it just me, or are the sides "wavy", as in not perfectly flat? In your pics, the previous "spy" pics, and even their brochure, it looks to me like they haven't figured out how to make fiberglass walls yet. In contrast, the walls on the LTV are like a sheet of glass (and a curved sheet of glass at that!). This would worry me greatly as the old specter of delamination would lurk in my brain because if true (wavy), what other aspects of large sheets of fiberglass have they gotten wrong??? Note I'm not trying to trash AS, I'm just trying to figure out where the "gotchas" might be in a first year effort like this.

Did you happen to notice what mechanism they used for the slide? Is it a Schwintek? If so, that would also be a cause for concern given the many complaints I've seen re. problems with Schwintek slides (gears and motors failing, sync issues, etc).

And yeah....where's the screen door? Hopefully it's either an accordion style slide in/out and we just don't see it, or they purposely left it off for the show so it didn't get destroyed by ham-handed visitors, because not having one at all would be a bit of a mistake IMO.....

For over $200k, I hope Mercedes updated their dashboard to circa 2000.

That was one of the major complaints about the Interstate, that the wet bath is too small for most adults. So I can understand why they went too far in the other direction for the Atlas.

If Airstream wants a B-van or a B+/C- van with a slide-out, maybe next time they'll put the shower in the slide. Passengers may use the toilet while on the road when the slide-out is slid in, but I don't know of anyone who showers while the vehicle is in motion, so the slide is a perfect place for a shower that you'll never need unless the slide is out anyway.

The drain for a shower in a slide would be complicated, but they have kitchens in slides.
I guess the drain and water supply lines are flexible? Supply lines may be like washing machine hoses. I guess the drain could be similar to a washing machine drain.

Actually, I was thinking that if you put the shower in the slide, then the drain could be in the floor area covered by the slide when the slide is in and uncovered when the slide is out. I haven't tried to design it, I just thought it would solve the "bathroom too small" and "bathroom too big" problems at the same time is all.
