AI Check Engine Light
300 miles into our third trip with our three month old 2017 AI (5500 miles total) the check engine light goes on. Solid yellow. Owners manual not helpful and no messages displayed. Stopped at a friendly Mercedes dealer who was able to read the on board computer and determined it is a defective "nox" sensor. They did not have one but we were able to drive to another dealer who was able to install the required two sensors and we were on our way.
Interestingly both dealers agreed these sensors have a high failure rate. I would suggest when you take your Sprinter in for service you inquire as to whether they can replace these sensors before you get the ambiguous and ominous "check engine" light. As we were on the road it was difficult to find a Mercedes dealer who works on Sprinters.
If you live in NJ i would highly recommend both Contemporary Mercedes in Little Silver, NJ and Prestige Motors in Paramus,NJ. Both were very helpful and courteous to a drop in customer.
When mine were replaced last summer, the dealer said that they would be covered by the 5/50K emissions warranty which in my case had expired. Bill was a little north of $1,500. Tech said that there was a software issue which had been corrected. Guess not.

Just had our 2015 GT in for 3rd time for NOX sensor failure.
Had two previous MB suv's that each had fuel sensors that repeatedly failed. Don't know if this is typical of MB or just typical of complexity of systems. Dealer said they installed latest generation of sensor of which there are two in the system, one upstream, the other downstream of converter.
