2016 GT EXT Shade Adjustment
Greetings-
During my eclipse trip to Wyoming, the sliding door & drivers side rear (not back door) shades came 'unraveled' and need to be either rewound and/or the limits adjusted. My question is this: can I get to them without removing side panels? If I have to remove side panels, do I need any special tools for removal or reinsertion? I've got literally no experience with panel removal etc.
Thanks,
-Robert

I have a read driver side sun shade jammed. Jumped track and now is in the night shade track. I'd be interested in this question also.

That's easy, just lower the sun shade half way down or until you have enough slack and then lift one side up til it's off track and then pull the other side out and reverse procedure into the correct track.

I couldn't get to mine to adjust it (DS mid) so I gave up. In my case it's just a bit long such that the shade bows a bit, so for now I've left it as is. Even using the little adjuster tool, I just don't see any way to get to the little screws. Heck, I can't even bend myself (or shrink myself) into a shape to even be able to SEE the screws.
I'll be watching this thread with great interest to see if someone has the magic spell to get this done without pulling half the van apart.....

It is very challenging to impossible to get to the top limit adjust without releasing the top of the panels. For the road side rear, just Phillips screwdriver required. Remove screws from back of overhead cabinets and the panel will pull out from the top. I've not done the door so have no advice, but I suspect it is held in place with panel clips. And if like the rear door, a challenge to pull loose

Unfortunately, the motor driving the sun shade does not respond to the remote control. There is a faint clicking sound, but no movement. I can't draw the shade down by hand, too much resistance. If I can obtain access from the top, I might be able to dislodge the shade from the wrong track.
The other option is to take it back to Holiday World for warranty service. I shudder at the potential delay and collateral damage.

Is the shade bound up somehow in the wrong track? It sounds like the clicking sound might be the motor trying to work but it can't because the shade is stuck and putting tension on the motor. Maybe you can lift it up a pinch and release some tension?
My daughter bashed into one of our shades and did what you described (sun screen sent off tracks towards window, night shade jumped into sunscreen track) and it was a bit stuck in there. I carefully "unstuck" it, let some slack out of the shade with the remote, then tilted it out of the wrong track and into the right one. Then I did the same thing and put the sun shade back into its track. Note that there are little teflon "O" rings on the ends of the shades to help them slide better in the tracks, so don't lose them!
Good luck!

I'm going to take another look tomorrow. Maybe take the side panel off to see if I can free it. I can't budge it as is.

Partial success. I managed to return the errant sunshade to its proper track, but the motor doesn't respond to remote control commands. Maybe a burnt out motor when it jammed? Maybe a fuse?
In any case we can now use the nightshade without fear of it entangling with the sunshade. I can live a long time without a sun shade before I want to enjoy the Holiday World service experience again.

Check the fuses under the DS jump seat. Maybe you got lucky and one saved your motor.....

My understanding is that both (sun & night) shade motors are on the same fuse. The nightshade is still working.

Ah....didn't realize one was still working. Yes, they are on the same fuse.
Try resetting the motor (instructions are on the sheet that should be in the bag w/ the adjuster tool). If that doesn't work, the gear for that shade may be toast.....

I probably should have done this when I had the panel off. It's back together now, so when the temp here in Houston cools off and I have time, I'll try that. I'm just glad I freed up the nightshade for normal use. That was the big annoyance.

You might be able to reset it without taking the panel off. On some of mine the reset switch is readily accessible because the wires are long enough that it sticks out a bit.

Your advice is always most welcome. We also stalled out on installing the interior LPG switch. Looked for the 'red wire' and found several of them. So as not to cause thread drift, no need to respond to this. Let's cover it at breakfast sometime.

My problem isn't one of "how" do you adjust these things, it's getting to the adjusting screws. Even using the supplied tool (long, thin, flexible "screwdriver"), it's been impossible for me to adjust the DS front night shade (that's the only one that's "grown" a bit long over time). Anyone have a trick for it, or is removing the panel around the window the only answer?

You do not need to remove the panel. Just remove the screws in the overhead holding the panel and pull it out enough to reach the adjustment screws.
