We did the Koni shocks upgrade. Picked up the AI this morning and drove about 100 miles (to a meeting and back).

We drove up and down gas station driveways, up and over speed bumps, up and over speed bumps at an angle.

I am extremely pleased to say that we are thrilled with the upgrade! No more rocking and rolling over the slightest things, and no more F-bombs coming out of my mouth!!

This upgrade should be the very first thing every AI owner does!

That's how Koni should advertise.

No More F-bombs

Glad you like the new ride, where did you get them installed?

haha!!! Purchased and installed at Preston's Tire. We didn't shop around, so you might be able to get a better price somewhere else. But, they've been good to us, and we are lazy.

No. Darn. Didn't think to do that. I'll check that out next week when we take it up to Santa Barbara for a few days, and I'll let you know what I think.

If your ride is the same as mine is with the Konis, a hard hat or crash helmet is a good accessory for the lounge passenger!

Have you tried adjusting the tire pressures? From discussions over on the Sprinter-Source forum I was able to lower my tire pressures to the correct psi based on the Michelin tire pressure charts to 55 psi which helped smooth out the ride a bit. The 61 psi on the door sticker is for max weight plus a few psi. I started the adjustment by getting my van weighed to be sure I knew the lead on each axle.

Did you have a full load of fuel, water and propane when you weighed it?

Yes full fuel water and propane, but only the driver and no other gear. Added weight of passenger and gear to get nominal running weight. Entered Michelin tire pressure chart with max weight on axle after additions.

My rear axle scale weight was 6,200 lbs. the Michelin tire chart says I could go as low as 45 psi. Even at the max rear axle rating of 7,720 lbs the tire pressure chart calls for about 58 psi. I run mine at 55 psi to give me a weight margin, but below the 61 psi on the door sticker. The resulting ride is a bit less harsh and the tires are wearing evenly. My TPMS also monitors tire temperatures, which stay just above the outside air temps.

Thanks. I'll give 55 a try and see how that works out.

Did you leave the fronts at 61 or drop them to 55 also?

Boxter1971- sounds like you have electronic tire pressure monitoring system? We are looking into getting one for our vehicle. Recommendations on what to purchase and where to purchase?

I am in the midst of installing a Dill Air Controls 1506 TPMS kit. I ran into a snag as the valve stem holes in the Alcoa wheels are smaller than stock. The only valve stem that Dill makes for that size has a 60 degree angle and is 2.5" long past the bend. That will not work for either the front or rear wheels. After some discussions with Dill, they recommended strapping the sensors to the center hub of the Alcoa wheels. The stock valve stem fits the inside rear wheel. I have the straps and mounts on the way. In spite of the fact that you cannot buy directly from them, Dill has been very helpful. If I run into any other issues, their factory is located about an hour and a half from me and they were good with my bringing the AI to them.

I also lowered the fronts to 55 psi using same logic.

Yes - I have the TST flow-thru system. http://tsttruck.com/product/tst-507-flow-thru/

I tried to use their internal sensor but ran into problems getting them mounted on the Alcoa wheels like jerhofer mentions above. I didn't have time to fool with the internals as I was about to head north to Alaska with new tires. So I got new dually valve stems on the inner duals from Bill Falkenborg. I used his DL1SPAL Chrome Dually Valve Kit.
http://yourtireshopsupply.com/produc...-valve-dl1spal

If you install these type of valve cap sensors you must replace the rubber valve stem on the inner duals with a stronger metal valve stem. I was motivated after I had an inner dual tire go flat on a trip last spring. I discovered it a a rest area and had no idea how long it ran flat since the last time I had checked the tires was when we started driving that day. The tire was ruined, but I caught it before it can apart. Also I had run the single outer tire in an overload condition for at least several hours.
