2013 Lounge Ext Customization
Some time ago, we decided we wanted to convert the Lounge couch to a twin arrangement. We also wanted to move the microwave so we wouldn’t need to get on our knees to see the controls......also wanted more storage (the curse of the “B”). The window shades were also replaced with MCD roller shades.
We opted to have it all done in a custom shop. I do some woodworking, but I’d better describe myself as a “wood-destroying human”. Didn’t want to botch the cabinets.
The attached photos are midway through the work. The “model” in one photo is the customizer’s wife. She wanted to give the photo scale. You can see we also upgraded the beds to a powered articulating bed. I guess overkill is my middle name.

I'll definitely have to look into the MCD roller shades for my 2012 Interstate.

Do the MCD shades provide complete blackout? Did you do anything about the curtain covering the sliding door or the panels that cover the front and side windows? I would love to block as much light with as little effort as possible.

We got the MCD Duo shades. They do an effective job blocking the light. We left the sliding door curtain as is due to clearance issues when operating the door. We have insulated window covers for the front, driver, and passenger windows. Our main reason for replacing the existing shades was I hated restringing them when the cords snapped.

Where is your customizer located? I am in West Knoxville and may need to see them also?

We’re 4+ months into our current trip and have discussed taking our sofa out to add a real mattress. Could you PM me as well with the contact info for your up fitter?
Thanks!
Mark

Hope to have photos this week. Just waiting for the new countertop. We are replacing the countertop with same material, but extending to cover the new microwave cabinet....and new counter top for the cabinet on the passenger side. We’ve been paying attention to changes and it appears we will be close to a wash on weight changes. The two captains chairs, couch, couch frame, jump seats and bases weigh about the same (or more) than the new stuff. Plan to hit the Cat Scales to see....but it should be close.

I like your curbside cabinet. More storage is always welcome! What did you choose for the solid surface?

The countertop material is very much like Corian. Not sure what the brand name is, but is here-now-ready to be cut and installed. It would be difficult to distinguish it from a Corian top. Corian distributor has been less than helpful for weeks now....so we said bye bye to that order.
I didn’t get a good photo of the curbside cabinet. It has 4 drawers. Three face inward, and one facing forward. The bottom drawer faces forward. The shape of the black tank housing led us to turn the bottom drawer. It will give me a drawer accessible from the side of the van, useful for those items I want ready access to when setting up or taking down.

When you get back, if you are able to take and share a few more photos. Would like to see the two new countertops looking back from driver’s seat...
