Yes, We Got A New Buddy

I said to myself that I would wait before at least until spring until we got a new dog. After Spot died the house was really empty. However the house was also cleaner and a lot quieter. Then my son had us take care of his bulldog for a few days and I was hooked.
My wife and I visited the local shelter and they had just the right dog. A Field Springer Spaniel who is gun shy. In fact he is shy of most things but not people. We named him Cromwell after Oliver Cromwell and there will be an explanation of that on our web page soon. Cromwell is the perfect dog for us, a pacifist who just did not cut it with the gun scene. He was trained to hunt and travels very well. We look forward to taking him with us on all our trips.

Great looking pooch!

Hope you have many happy years with him. We did a shelter rescue about 3 years ago. Wasn't looking for a dog at all but the wifey saw it and brought her home. Very skittish at first....a beagle/jack russel mix....But great now.

Talk about crazy................... !!!

A great way to show your love for your Spot by bringing home a dog who was homeless and can help to fill the void he left in a different way than Spot did. That looks like one very happy dog to me. Must be the Airstream - it realizes there are little miracles even in dogs lives. Congratulations.

Yeah! New dog! Our Cady was taken to the local shelter for being gun shy as well. The previous owner put a lot of money into her training, he just forgot to train her around loud noises.

Glad Cromwell found a loving peaceful home to call his own.

Happy puppy!

Congratulations, and so glad you gave a loving home to a shelter dog. Bet you can't wait until Cromwell's first trip with Chummy!

We rescued a black lab pup who was gun shy about ten years ago. She considers our Airstream 345 as HERS. If the engine starts she HAS to be in it. If we start to load things into it, she will lay under the steps for days so as not to get left. She weighs 95 lbs now, (not fat just BIG). I can trust her around children but don't let an adult act threatening toward my Wife. She will protect the cook.

P.S. We rescued a small calico cat a year ago and now she rules the dog.

I wish I could rescue them all.

Good job Kent. Hope you get a lot of joy for your kindness.

New Travel companion

Great looking dog.
I have a new pup, who is making me feel my age.
I just turned a fellow Airstreamer onto German Shepard Rescue and he has 7 too choose from. He should have a new travel companion in a few weeks.
You can't beat the rescue groups.

Chaplain Kent,

Lucky you! Springers are wonderful hunters and companions. My sister and I were raised with a 65lb black and white springer and we truly loved that dog! You will be blessed with many years of love from yours as well. Enjoy.

Congratulations to Cromwell! He made a great choise when he picked you. Now the training begins. Let's hope that Kent is a fast learner.

Cromwell

Congrats! I can't wait to meet him. I have an English Setter that I rescued about 9 years ago. She will hunt (on her own terms) and will panic if she can't see you (she is also kinda deaf). I have had to send my German Shepherd in the woods to find her. Terra, the English Setter, will be with us at the Fort Mtn. Rally in April. I wish I could bring all my babies, but it just gets too crowded in the Airstream. So they take turns and get the once over when they get home!
