Laura,

You're already doing everything right by asking questions, sharing your experience and showing great concern and care for your Kimmi.

You could not be a better person. Fur-pets do not have regrets or second guess themselves so why should you?

*hugs* (MODS: since by some freaky omission there isn't a hug smiley)

So very sorry to hear of Kimmi's problems. You've asked all the questions, considered all of the angles, and made the right decision.

Get well, Kimmi
Stay strong, Laura

sad times

Kimmi was unable to have the surgery performed. Pre-op blood tests show that she is in kidney failure. Prognosis is "guarded to poor". I am giving SubQ Fluids at home to see if it helps. She ate this morning and had a bark-a-thon at the neighboor dog walking by the house. I am glad to be home with her to share a bit more time together.

Amazing how much of a companion she is to me. Other than my trip to WY, I have never spent a night away except for some very limited work travel. She sleeps at my side every night and I havde always been glad to miss after-work functions, late nights with friends, etc so that I could be with her instead. She's a wonderful little girl who has well deserved this attention.

If today goes well, I may pull Ophelia out of the garage and go to the closeby park for a night or two. I think Kimmi enjoys KARS park - there are some nice walks and fresh air.

Laura

My thoughts are with you -- so sorry to hear about this. You're both lucky to have each other. How fortunate we are to have our pets to share our lives with.

So sorry to hear this.

Treasure every remaining minute, and take some pictures of her with people she loves and who love her.

Yes, I'll bet she likes KARS. Camping is a good idea. Take care.

Thanks everyone - Kimmi has tolerated the sub-q fluids pretty good - went for a swim and laid along the riverbank together yesterday late afternoon. Feeling like I need to make a decision on her future but can't bring myself to do anything immediately since she's still interested in swimming, walks and neighborhood dogs. Course, she isn't eating much - don't know if it is a true indicator though because she's been pretty picky for the past year. Of course, the inevitable is coming - her kidneys aren't going to regenerate ... but this time at home with her - indulging her is special.
Laura
