I met Penny at Moraine View in 2005. In her absence, this year Eric told the tail of her state of health -- I know she meant a lot to you 'Twink. Sorry to hear this. We'll keep an eye out for doggie-shaped clouds in our travels and shout out a 'hi' from you when we see her.

So sorry to hear of your loss. We had a bad year last year, losing our beloved ol' cat, who had been with us 15 years, and our wonderful German Sheperd, Bella, who was almost ten. But wouldn't you know it, before too long I was in the backyard and heard a faint "mew" in a nearby bush. Much to my surprise, there was a cute little kitten who is now part of our family. Then about a month ago, our friend who works at the local shelter called and said there was a dog there she wanted us to see. The dog had been left by a family who moved away and couldn't take the dog. "Sadie", a beautiful, sweet, one-year-old German Sheperd is also now part of the family. We still miss our departed animals, but the hurt is replaced by love for and from the new ones.
Grieve for a while, then rescue some sweet soul from the local shelter. You will be so glad you did.
God Bless,

Twink,

It's with saddness I read about Penny. Hopefully she went peacefully, and that you both were with her to the end.

As someone who puts a greater value on animal life than human, Pam and our four kats, Hoover, Jiffy, Ella, and Oscar feel your pain.

best to you both.

Jonathan

A good friend is hard to forget.

Your loss just brought back memories of all the dogs I have had and lost.
I have owned dogs all of my life; ever since I was born.
I miss them all greatly.
Here's to Penny. I know she is in Doggy Heaven playing and romping with all those other dearly missed friends.

Oh this makes me cry. It is so hard to lose these dear, dear friends. Reading about one who has died just brings back the memories of my own beloved pets that gave me such happiness. Somewhere there is a really lost puppy looking for you. I know Penny will lead you to him.

Honor your friend here with a story of something she did, or personalities and some photos of her being a happy camper.

I know how you feel

I am sooo sorry. I have lost several cats. One hit me particularly hard. He was the most caring cat I have ever seen. He knew when I was not feeling well and always was there to comfort me. He passed away after a long battle with cancer.
I know how you feel. Karma coming your way.... if I can ever figure out how... never mind found the link!

First, thank you to all who sent me PMs and posted such nice thoughts. This past week has been difficult as most in this position know. I still get up in the middle of the night, come home and still attempt to go through the routines, but then realize that she's not there.

Second here is a story about Penny when I first picked her up from the shelter:

I caged her in a double wide cage. I came home and she'd meet and greet me at the front door. She figured out immediately how to slide the slide lock on the cage and get out. So, I placed a twist tie on the cage door. That evening, I came home, and there she was at the door once again. She had torn the twist tie off, slid the latch and got out. So, the next morning, I put about 6 twist ties on the cage door, all around it. I came home that evening and again, not only was she at the door to greet me, but she took all 6 twist ties and left them at the front door as if to say ...."nice try".

The next day, I put a padlock on the door, and when I came home, she wasn't at the door. Went back to her room and she was in her cage looking at me as if to say, "ok, you got me this time". So I took apart the cage and donated it. She roamed freeley around the house since then.

Although I have literally hundreds of pictures of Penny, most of them are on film that I haven't scanned. So, here are a few digital pictures of her at various times in our lives. The white terrier with the black spots is her "brother" Charlie. Here is the link to the site I've posted the picture:

Penny

Thank you one and all once again for all the support you've shared with us.

Please accept my deepest condolences...from one dog person to another. I also have a shepard-lab mix. They are great companions with wonderful temperaments. I'm sure she was one of a kind.

Some of you had met Penny over the years at the Midwest Rally. She was absent this past year due to her not being able to travel well.

She will be sorely missed, more than words can describe........

Smile Penny

I just read your post and I am very sorry for your loss of Penny...We have been through this twice before and we decided to creamate both and we still take them with us. We now have a new Jack and Dauschaund mix and she loves RVing too...so two in wood boxes, one on a leash all share the campfire! The memories will keep you smiling. The photos you share are very similiar to the many that us dog lovers take...the blankets, toys and clothes show us how much you care. If ever in San Antonio look us up!
