It hurts so much to lose a beloved dog. I lost my Black Lab Maggie two years ago - I've been waiting to get another dog because I want it to outlive me.

All the best,
John

R.I.P. Dusty, Dusty Boo, Boo-Boo.

I can accept that I might still outlive our little pack, but the mutual rewards are so high I continue to let them into my heart. I have a pair of rescues napping on my lap right now, truly content and happy to be off the street in a forever home.

We have had many companions leave us, but they are still in our hearts.

Indeed it breaks our hearts. Lot's of us share the sadness in the loss of someone's pet. Every time we have lost a dog I swore that would be the last...then we bring home another friend to spoil.
Isn't it a shame we humans don't have more of a dog's unconditional and forgiving attitude.

Bob, so sorry to hear about Dusty...such a cute little fellow. I know what you and Lee are going through...a sad journey. I always enjoyed the little snippets about Dusty in your travels. He was loved.

I am so sorry to hear about your fur baby 😢 He did have a long life and sounds like he passed over the rainbo bridge very peacefully. We lost our 20 year old cat a month or so ago. Still hurts a lot but I'd does fell a little less raw with each passing day. You are in my thoughts and prayers....it is very tough. Sorry.

Bob, Dusty always wanted to be with you, even when it was time to say good-bye.

What a magnificent little dog.

One of our concerns is what we would do if one of our dogs died while traveling. We always thought we would find a nice area near where we were have a small burial. Someplace we could locate again if we wanted to. Were you on the road? Sorry if this is too personal.

Not too personal otherwise I wouldn't post at all.

Hi, since we had four dogs prior to Dusty, [two at a time] and the one that lived the longest made it to 12.5 years old; Dusty was 13.5 years old when he adopted us. We always had that fear, or thought, of what would we do if Dusty passed while traveling. We had plans to have Dusty cremated and would try to find someplace on the road that could do it for us. After last year's 3 1/2 month, over 13,000 mile trip, we were all tired and wanted to go home after 3 months. After that Dusty was burned out and didn't want to go for any car rides. We all stayed home and Dusty peacefully went to sleep in our house June 19th 2016. We hoped that this would be the way he would go; Peacefully in his bed.

Bob, I know I've said this in other areas as well, but I'm sorry to hear this. Dusty was an interesting character when I met him.

18 1/2 years was a mighty big gift!
