Poop Scoop
I am about to hit the road in my Airstream traveling with a Saint Bernard. I am sure most of you know what that means... and I have a very bad gag reflex.
Any recommendations on a nice pooper scooper? Prefer it to have an 8 foot handle but I know that is unrealistic .

Hi,
Aw geeeeez, it's just dog poop; Use a doggie poop bag. Put your hand inside of the bag and use it like a glove, pick up the poop, turn the bag inside out, and tie it shut. [no touching of anything] Take the doggie poop bag to trash can or camp ground doggie poop bucket.

It's not hard to do ... it's part of dog ownership, and a necessity, no matter what kind of dog you have. They all poop if they are healthy ... and you have to pick up after them. If you don't, you will likely find yourself leaving the campground sooner than you planned.
I would, however, suggest the largest-size poop bags you can find!

Grocery store bags are good for this. Big enough for a St. Bernard's business and when you do as Bob said, you can tie it up nice and neatly closed by making a knot with the 2 handles.

This is exactly what we do with our golden retriever's pooh, re-purpose those bags!

I tried the grocery bags, but I found that they tear easily. So, I started using the rolls of bags ... They are easier than stuffing the supermarket bags into your pocket. Plus, when you pick the poop up on cool mornings, it helps to warm your hands.
Ok, did that bring a gag on?

I don't have this particular one but we have a similar dispenser on the leash. That way I don't forget to take a bag when I walk the dogs.
Poop Bags » Martha Stewart Pets™ Waste Bag Dispenser | PetSmart
Then use the advanced scooping technique Bob described above.

Absolutely! :-p
:-)
The rolls of bags like you get at petsmart? Hope this doesn't cause a gag but Daisy's production seems a bit too significant for those... :-o

I had a 200 lb Mastiff. The poop bags worked fine.

Where I have been working for the last year and a half, I haven't picked up after my 80 lbs. German Shorthair Pointer even once. As soon as she does her business, an army of flying dung-beetles flies over and rolls it all away. Hey, maybe I should start a traveling dung-beetle rental company. I lay my water hose across the road side of my front mat to divert their travels around the trailer and not under it, if they come across the road.

My daughter taught her lab to poop into a plastic grocery bag--she held the bag under Tiv's back end like a basket, then when Tiv was finished, all she had to do was tie it shut and dispose of it.
