Lumatic, thanks for sharing.

'twas heaven here with you.

That it was.

It looks like you have a new dog and a cat now, so you will learn more. I'm glad to see you will continue learning. A dog (not sure about cats) will always make you a better person, and maybe even more extraordinary.

Gene, thank-you for your kind, sage words. I am glad I posted this thread because it will help those struggling with pet grief.

Yes, I do have another dog love in my life.

Our whole family is into dog rescue. We've never 'bought' a dog. We find them, or it seems they find us. The last two crossed a busy street to get to us. The security guy at the place said he'd seen them, but they never had crossed the street. They seem to know what to do. Two Malti-poo brothers. Starving and matted. Had to do something, and Wife and I refuse to drop any dog at a so-called shelter.

kidjedi, am sitting here sobbing (again) because my beagle was like a young, healthy dog that last time in the creek.

I can see Coupland in the lake too.

Thank-you for sharing....and giving your beloved Coupland that final joy.

Hang in there. I still get all teary-eyed over Quinn. He left us almost 10 years ago now. Try to think about the good times....

I miss my dear Oliver every single day. He was only 7 years old when the evil disease, IMHA, took him from me in July. He was the sweetest, kindest most loving dog ever. I have since adopted a little springer spaniel puppy, Hector, and he has moved into my heart...sweet little guy. To me, there is nothing better than the love and devotion of a dog.

Pet Grief

Quinn was only 7. Lost him to cancer. Smartest dog I ever had. Daughter could teach him a new trick in about ten minutes.

Dogs are 'wired' to live humans, it seems. All they need is the chance.
