Good luck, I hope you find a great rescue. I wish we had homes for all of them!

We spent the day adding some new additions to our house. Not Barclay, but 2 sheep, 2 pygmy goats, and a llama! A friend called last week distraught that the coyotes had eaten one of their sheep. They had a lot of trouble with this last year and their herd dwindled. They bought the llama to guard the sheep, but the coyote got past him. She wondered if we could take them in at least temporarily, before her pet pygmy goats got eaten.

So we spent the day catching and moving critters. The pygmys went in a large dog crate together, the sheep went in the back of the van behind the backseat, and the llama went in a trailer. Everyone is happy at home now, except for our goats (the black and white ones) who seem a little put out, but I'm sure everyone will settle in with time. It's kind of cool seeing these big white sheep out grazing in the field!

My sister lost tow very loving pet goats (small type - I'm not sure of the name) and a couple of cats to coyotes. She was devastated. Took a rifle shooting course and cured the coyote problem but just couldn't bring herself to get more of the little guys.

If you'll pardon the pun that must have been wily coyote(s) to get past the Llama. They are pretty aggressive with coyotes from what I've read and very effective.

Good for you for providing a home.

Barry

Barkley's home!

The little guy is home. He rode on my lap all the way home which caused a little jealousy. Alki compensated by sitting under my feet. Good thing it was a short ride!

When we got home the cats hissed and watched from high perches, Alki is patiently avoiding him, and Chester figured out what he was immediately and wanted to play. Obviously they're going to get along just fine! Then he came back inside, pooped on the carpet, and crashed for a nap

Ok, be careful looking at these picture. Side effects may include fainting from the extreme levels of cuteness, and an uncontrollable desire to go buy an eskimo:

We had the same issue when we first started training Cookie: Go out and pee, come in and poop...

Barclay looks like he fits right in. He's just too cute for his own good. Congrats on getting him home and into the family.

so how are the other creatures doing?

Are the other furry members of the family as welcoming to Barclay?

Who is in charge?

They all regard him as a mild annoyance. Alki won't growl at him, except once when he charged past me to stick his nose in her bowl while she was eating. If she'd do that a few more times she would have him in line in no time, but she is a pacifist I guess She'd rather just come sit on the couch next to me and ask me to protect her.

For the most part he has been a surprisingly peaceful addition. He slept like a baby all night, except for two potty breaks. He wasn't crying for his family at all. I remember Alki cried like a banshee every night for days when she was a baby. So far he is just a happy, playful little guy, toddling around after the other pets and occasionally stopping to chew something up, then crashing for a nap.

Thanks for the new photos. I love the one of the cat watching him asleep in his crate!

JFFHGILJKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK:::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::

Ooops, sorry, I passed out on my keyboard from cute overload!

That has got to be the CUTEST little feller EVER! I love the pic of him & Alki--he looks so tiny and precious! Thank you so much for sharing him with us!

I also love your menagerie! (That one goat is huge! I love it looking over the fence with you. ) That's great you have room to be able to help your friend out.

Goo dthing he's so cute! Last night went horrible! He just wouldn't sleep, cried and cried and cried. I took him out, and brought him back and shortly after that he pooped in his crate, so I had to clean that up. Then we eventually moved him out to the pen and he cried and cried from about 2:30 - 4, when I decided to go out and see if I could do something to stop it, and he had pooped again and got in it and it was everywhere! So I gave him a quick bath and wrapped him up in a towel and laid down on the couch and put him on my chest and he went right to sleep. I felt so bad that he was such a mess and I didn't check on him sooner, but everyone says not to give them attention when they're acting like that. My vet said if you give them attention it will take twice as long for them to stop next time, so maybe I shouldn't have done that - but instinct tells me otherwise! He seems happy as ever, so I guess he's not traumatized, but everyone else sure is!

Maybe try dividing off a part of the crate. Leave him just enough room to stand up and turn around and sleep comfortably. If the space is limited they are less likely to soil their den. If the crate is too big, they can soil one corner and sleep in another. I hope tonight is better!

or maybe...

maybe it was his gut, dogs take time to acclimate to new surroundings and food. Even if the food is the same, you never know what kind of water he was used to. He may have just had a bad night.

I do remember Scout cried and cried and cried. Chief didn't make a peep. Kind of weird.

Poop like the wind

I think you were right, it was an upset tummy. Last night he did fine. Slept in his crate next to our bed and only woke up up twice for potty breaks. After potty we let him play for a bit them when he started going all 'groggy doggie' on us, tucked him back in the crate and he slept for 3 more hours. We took turns on potty duty, so it was a much more peaceful night.
