This is actually the problem. It is the owners, not the dogs, that cause the problems. Some owners feel that everyone else in the campground should love to hear the sound of their barking dogs, and enjoy having snot rubbed all over their trousers.

As far as I am concerned the same thing applies to children. Some parents and pet owners see no reason why everyone in the campground should not enjoy their messy and noisey charges.

Pets never leave owners unattended...

JAKI doesn't like leaving me unattended... Probably a good thing!

Please NEVER go away and leave your dog tied outside. I personally know of instances where a bear did kill the dog, and another where a pack of coyotes got the other dog. NEVER NEVER, if you love your dog.

It's hard to believe that some RV parks are not dog friendly. The majority of Rvers do so because of their dog.

A real bonus is an off-leash area - like the one at the Canyon Alpine Park.....

We stayed in TWO campgrounds near Glacier last year that allowed dogs but had signs everywhere to not let your dog do its business on the grassy area at your site. What??

They had designated pet areas at either end of these very large campgrounds, and you were expected to walk your dog to one of these----all the while insuring they don't do what they came out to do-----regardless of the time of day or night.

Well, we certainly pick up after her, that's not the problem.

You're expected to pick up everywhere, but at these campgrounds there were only specific places they wanted the dogs to do the dog stuff. And one of them was not on the grass of your own site.

Javelinas love dogs too!

We love dogs. Have two, a Weimaraner and a Corgy. But they don't travel with us. We have experienced too many barking dogs left at the campsite by owners who are sure their dog did not make any noise while they were gone-----at least THEY didn't hear anything. And while a lab might chase off a Teton grizzly, the lab I saw in Big Bend did not dissuade the javelina from coming into camp. He could barely stay out of reach of the tusks while tied to a tree and being chased around.

Thumbs up

Been at it for awhile....

Couldn't do it without them....

We have never camped anywhere with "hook-up's"...that may have something to do with never having had anyone tell us where to de-crap our 4-leggers.

No playground, golf course, swimming pool, tennis court, or bocce lawn, can't blame folks if they pay resort fee's and step in it because of some inconsiderate pet owner.

Now you can forget the trailer and take your family pets with you on the airplane.

Please. The bears up there are well feed, and she would have barked at it and scared it off.

So now she has to stay in the trailer. or we leave her at home.
Jason, we live in bear and cougar country, and these animals do attack and kill pets left tied up on the deck, backyard, &c. It may not be hunger that motivates this so much as inter-species competition. Grizzlies wouldn't be scared off by a non-aggressive breed of dog. Wolves will kill coyotes if they can catch them, for example. I doubt that the rangers can distinguish between breeds, let alone individual dog personalities.

Happy to see some fellow outlaws here, though. We leave our mutt (shepherd cross) in the truck or Bambi with water available for up to two hours while hiking in National Park trails, where dogs aren't allowed; shopping excursions, and the like.

We plan a lot of our trips around US National Parks, where dog rules are a problem. Not so in National Recreation Areas, Preserves, many state parks, National Forests, or BLM land, thankfully. Dogs are also allowed on trails on-leash in most Canadian national and provincial parks.

The worst abuse I ever saw, however, was once while winter camping near the Tetons, a man tied up his small short-haired dog outside his trailer, while he apparently took off for a day of skiing. The poor thing was shivering in the extreme cold, and its water dish was freezing. Thankfully the owner returned in time to save its life.

Thoughtless people like him make it hard for responsible pet owners.

Not to mention the ones who let their dogs sit on their laps while driving, be loose in the back end of a pick-up while driving at high speeds (we once saw a dog bounce out and hit the road) or roam loose, &c.
