New member to the family!!!!!

We have a new member to the family and guys it's a big new member. My son has been taking riding lessons for about 2 months now and for years has begged us for a horse. Today I gave in and we brought home a 12 year old quarter horse mare by the name of Smoochie and Austin is in love. He plans to show in our local shows and 4-H next spring. We have to board at one of the local barns, but there are many kids there so it's lots of fun for him. And yes I have to brag she is pretty sweet and so pretty. I'll post some pictures in the morning after we go out and feed.

Thumbs up Great!

Good for you Becky! Quarter horses are so nice!! That will teach so much responsibility and caring for others!! How exciting, can't wait to see the pix!!!

When I was your son's age I had an old quarter horse too, she was a retired Detroit police horse, she didn't care about gunfire (good news during hunting season) but whoa did she freak when she saw combines coming down the road

Congratulations on your new arrival. Will you be traveling with him? Many of our state parks have special horse campsites with horse trails to ride.

Becky, that's great! Austin is so fortunate and will have a ball. My begging at his age only got me more frequent visits to my friends owning horses. Chaplain Kent is right about some state parks. Fort Mountain State Park near Chatsworth, Georiga even has a stable for campers bringing their equine friends.

Congratulations, Becky and Austin! Our girls loved horses too, and we eventually had several, all with stories, of course. Watch out--you can tow it too! You'll be pulling to circuit shows and on to State 4-H. How will you pull the horse trailer and Airstream both so you can camp out overnight in a dusty field, waiting for the Sunday show after Saturday's events? Oh, you have good times ahead But best of all, you listened to your son's heart. Best wishes, all! ~G

I have not figured out pulling the Airstream and trailer deal. I'm thinking now we will have someone to haul the horse and we can take the Airstream. There will only be 2 shows for us next year that are over nights.
As for pictures I can't seem to get them small enough so I'll add them to my members photo's

Will it fit in a base camp?
