So sorry! We have a choc lab that travels with us and he is such a great companion. They are like family and the unconditional love of a dog is a great comfort.
Find another one and start new journeys!

A quick update: Mishka is growing quickly! He's had a busy 12 weeks with us starting with his trip home to Michigan.
First night in his crate lasted about 10 minutes.
Mom's lap pup.
A week later we headed to St George Island Fl to spend February on the beach with my parents.
Dad's fishing buddy.

Cutting wood.
Helping dig worms.
He's socializing well with other dogs and people. Typical puppy challenges so he fits right in.
In a few weeks we will head out in the AS for the Pennwood get together.

From one Dave to another, I share your love for the breed, and My two Goldens share my empathy for your loss. Walter is currently nine, and Waylon is five. The are both from the same breed in downstate Illinois, who I would recommend to anyone.
BTW - On this dive Walter would have gotten a perfect 10, but the Russian judge gave him a six.

The first part of this thread made me cry.
And now I'm laughing (love the together in bed photo).
Please give Mishka a hug for the vicarious joy!

I believe it true that the best way to fill the void left by such a loss is with more Love, which heals most things. We just need to be reminded, as we forget in our grief, of the wonder of what we had and that we have but to seek to find it again.
Late to see the thread, jealous of what you have found in that beautiful new puppy. Better to live and lose then never have loved at all.. for both parties, so many pets out there in need of a family.
Best wishes friend
Brian

*wagging tail at Robert*
At least the wife is still in the bed. I saw a similar cartoon years ago entitled, "The Changing Dynamics of Married Life."
#1 Wife and hubby in bed.
#2 Wife, hubby, and dog in bed.
#3 Hubby and dog in bed. Wife on sofa.
p.s. Give Fado a hug for me too.

Or at our house, alpha dog sleeps on foot if daughter’s bed, facing the door. He is in his “on watch” mode, all night, I suspect.
If you let him, he will go to the master bedroom for a while, then go back to daughter. He stays alert all night, looking for trouble.
They really love their people pack members. The other three sleep in their crates but are also alerted by minor noises. They may not bark, but you can hear them stirring.

It been a little over two years now. Dakota’s brother just died of the same condition. Cody stayed with us during the day form they day they came home while Colleen, his mom, was at work.
Cody, Kota, and the neighbor’s who came to visit a bunch.
Kota and Cody loved day trips to the Divide west of Boulder.
We are driving out to Boulder next week. We will spread Kota and Cody’s ashes at Mammoth Basin. One of their favorite hikes.
Mishka is still bouncing off the walls as a very lovable 2 year old.
He’s ready for the classic motorhome get together next month!

It's great to come home to those happy, laughing, canine faces, especially after being privy to some miserable human ones.

The more I deal with people, the better I like my dogs...lap magnets all, you sit down, make a lap, and they runt to join you...
They listen and pay great attention, and never tell others what you tell them...
Mine all think the "Silver Hamshack" is simply their favorite mobile doghouse.

Even diehard scientific types who are very skeptical of religion, relent at the idea that there may be a distinct correlation between dreaming and some concept of heaven.
I personally think they are directly linked. I am happy to see it every time I witness a full blown doggy dream in action.
You are right, all dogs go to heaven.
