We recently bought a 76 Argosy, and since we plan on taking our cats with us when we travel, we need to make it cat proof so that they can't get into places where we might have to dismantle something to get them out. In the galley, under the sink and stove cabinets is a space big enough for a small, wiry cat to wiggle under, so we had to close it. And it needed to be ventilated because of the furnace, so some ingenuity had to be used. I went to Home Depot and bought a strip of expanded aluminum gutter screening, cut it in half and to length, and inserted the bottom of the strip in a piece of shower panel molding that I had left from another project. Luckily there was a channel in the aluminum trim under the sink cabinet, and I slipped the top of the strip right into it, and secured both ends with small bolts and washers so it wouldn't be moveable. The other piece, under the stove, had no channel so I just had to bolt it to the bottom of the cabinet. Now, when we get doors on the cabinets, it will be cat proof! Now, if I can figure out how to attach pictures, I will put them in here!
The cat isn't allowed in the trailer yet. And my too-smart-for-his-own-good knows-how-to-open-doors-by-himself Abysinnian needs every way I can get to keep him out of things, and there are spaces into the belly pan around the plumbing big enough for him to squeeze thru if he could get in there. Wish I could figure out how to post those pictures!

Our cat Church has often been curious about the space under the galley. I opened the door and he spent his time in there and back under the bed. Now that he figured nothings doing he's content just hanging out waiting for his best buddy Maddie our rat terrier/chihuahua mix to come in the door to play. Robert
We HAVE a bigger cat--A Maine coon. She can't squeeze her chubby self in there. But the slim, svelte Abysinnian can. And he is nosy, poking himself into everything just to see what's there. And he's a mouser, if there has ever been a mouse anywhere he would try to go there. So the safest thing to do is to prevent it. He likes to spend his time at home in the basement up among the furnace ducts on rainy days.
