This is Hagar doing a little back seat driving. From day one he took ownership of the Airstream and from that point on it became the "Hagarstream." He traveled with us from coast to coast and many happy miles. Sadly we lost Hagar to that RV Park in the heavens.

Before long we realized the need for a back seat driver so Rascal agreed to accept the position. His first long trip was to Alaska and he handled the position like an old pro.

The best dog is the one that jumps in your truck when the keys rattle.
Still working on the cat...

Air Stream pets

First I would like to suggest going to your local shelter or Rescue group. We have had Maltese rescues for more than 25 years and they do great. All breeds will have to get used to any thing you drive, or sleep in. Good luck in finding the perfect pooch.

What breed dog

We have a French Bulldog. They don't need much activity and are very quiet so they don't disturb anyone at parks.

Preferably one that doesn't get car sick! We have a standard labradoodle. He's large but has adapted well to the AS. And we love him!

Cattle dog a.k.a blue healer a.k.a Sadie B. ( the B is from her father, Booger)
Go anywhere do anything, good watchdog, complete loyalty, and on fridays or frisbee time, a real pain in the ---! Our second healer, great dogs. But don't let anyone fool you, I haven't met a dog yet that doesn't get tripped over in an Airstream!

Our Chesapeake Bay Ret. picked out our 2017 30' FC. She crawled up under the dining table and laid down and went to sleep and won't move. As long as she has her two play toys, food and a water dish she is fine. She travels very well in the TV, all you need to do is rattle the keys and she sits besides the door of the TV waiting to jump in.

My travel buddy is a Goldendoodle, kinda hard not to spoil any though. Itís your preference, they are a blessing to travel with, no matter the breed !!

Is there a breed of dog suited to an Airstream?

Finding one that does not get carsick or panicky is key. My experience is that a carsick dog, regardless of size, can barf gallons at times. Fortunately ours donít seem to have the problem. One of ours would rather not jump in, you have to go invite him personally. The other three are at the truck door trying to get aboard even if we are not going anywhere!!!

Once aboard, they sleep happily on the freeway, but wake up to see where we are when I go down the off ramp into local surface traffic...they make very distinct ďare we there yetĒ noises at that time.
