Here's Rusty the Doxie.....

Hi all pet owners and lovers.....

Here's my travlin pal and companion....

Rusty

Got him from a woman that worked at the county pound. She gave me a bad check for $35. A year later, she called and said she found a dog for me. This guy is so well trained... was told the family got rid of him because they had a baby and wanted a puppy.

He was 6 years old, now he's 8. We are growing old together.

But he was pooped when we got back from picking up the Airstream...

Rusty the Doxie

Tom,

I couldn't get your picture to come up but I would guess that Rusty is red. I have had Doxies forever and couldn't resist when I say your post, just had to look. Currently I have my latest, Buster, who is just over a year old and is as wild and foolish as they come. I have always had smooth coat black and tan females but this time it's a red wirehaired male. He is a hoot.

What Happened

Tom
I love Doxies and would like to see Rusty. The link to her picture is broken I just get back this message:
Uh-oh. Something bad happened...

We are really sorry, but something went wrong while handling your request.[listPhotos:1:78]

Why don't you just post the picture on the forums?

Lucky dog....both of you!

Great job on the adoption. We've adopted 2 over the years from the local pound.

What a great thing to do. All 3 of our dogs were not wanted either. I can not imagine how anyone could discard an animal like a piece of old furniture. The people who got rid of Rusty because they had a baby and wanted a puppy are a real piece of work. Life is better for Rusty, Thanking you with the only thing I can give, a big bucket of Karma!

Rescue a Dog

Hi Tom, Welcome to the FORUMS. Glad Rusty has a nice owner to take him camping and is outfitting the A/S with the latest "gadgets" for a fun filled travel vacation. I rescued my dog from a no-kill shelter. I was told that he had grown too big for the children and family that had adopted him. He was one when I got him and is now six. Hope to see you down the road..........

Rusty's sooooo CUTE! Rescue pups are special. Sometimes I think they have a sense of indebtedness to their rescuers, for they are so eternally grateful, loyal, and faithful to the end.

I just read an article in Country Living magazine encouraging readers to rescue dogs. Hopefully that exposure will lead many readers to investigate this route to pet ownership. ~G

What?? No pillow?? I'm calling the humane society!! Just kidding Tom...Get that puppy a cozy pillow for his head...I used to wrap my lab/brit mix (shelter dog too) up like that but he had to have a pillow under his head it helped with the snoring
