Stef, so sorry to hear. 15 years is a great run with a dog, but as we all know it's too short for us dog owners. They all carry special places in our hearts.

My heart breaks for you today. As I have mentioned before I also have an American Eskimo who was born in Dec 1995. I know the huge spot she keeps in my home and my heart so I can imagine the loss you feel.

We missed meeting you at Ft Stevens recently. Look forward to meeting you someday soon. I feel your pain with the loss of your beloved pet. Lost my little one close to two years now. Still find myself expecting to see her around the house. Time does ease the pain, but the loss really never goes away. Know that there are many
thinking of you and what you are going though. Susan

So sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved pet. We lost our Brittany Spaniel to a battle with cancer several years ago, and understand the depths of your grief.

She'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Steph, you and David have our sympathies for your loss of Alki. I'm sure you're grateful for the extra time y'all were given to be with her, even though it's never enough.

Alki was a very lucky dog to have such loving people. Her memory will live long, of that I am certain. My condolences to your family during this sad time.

Thanks for all the condolences, it does help to know others have been through the same thing. Dogs make such special friends, it's so hard to let them go. But I'm glad she had a good life, and we were able to give her the easy way out. I'll never forget her, that's for sure.

Hi Steph,

"Our little Alki Dog" helped us get through some really hard times. We lost Chief two years ago and I would sign on and see her smiling face. She was a great dog and a huge support to us.

Many condolences on your loss.

So sad to hear this, but know you did everything you could and most importantly- you were there with Alki to the end! FFifteen is a terrific age for a healthy dog, and the fact she lived an extra three years with a diagnosis like that is amazing-- a testament to your care. I'm sure that sweet dog is still with you, just now in spirit rather than in full fuzz. Thank you for loving her so fully :-) As an animal rescuer, it is wonderful to see stories like this even when they're bittersweet endings..Rae

We are really sorry to hear about Alki. Some times life is filled with wonder like when a little white puppy comes home with you and moves right in to your hearts. Then, we wonder why they have to go away again when they, and we, have so much love yet to share. You can bet she's waiting for you guys..........

Thank heavens you have some other fur kids around to help you ease through the sad times.

Jnerges, I remember Chief and talking to you about his treatments over the campfire at BB. These guys do steal our hearts. We never forget them and their wonderful spirit.

Thanks for all the condolences, it is taking some getting used to. It's especially hard to say goodbye to a friend who was so involved in everything right to the end, but I'm glad that's how it all went down for her. It just takes time as everyone in the house gets used to the idea.
