We recently lost our beloved 17 year old Chocolate Lab (Lucy). She was our 3rd Lab and the most special. I know that she is waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. Last week we adopted Brody. A 1 1/2 year old yellow Lab rescue. His poor body is riddled with shot gun pellets as well as a 22 caliber bullet. He will never replace our Lucy but is now a member of our family. He has not made his first AS venture, but he loves going in and out of the trailer. Google "Rainbow Bridge " poem , for those who are not familiar with the poem.

Sorry for your loss. We lost our 14 year old cocker, Maddie, a little over a year ago and thought after a lifetime of cockers that perhaps we wouldn't get another dog..... but after a couple of weeks of an empty house and a camping trip without a canine companion, we knew that we needed to have another cocker. Fiona just turned one and continues to enrich our lives.

No matter how much joy or sorrow we have in our lives, our dogs are a constant. When you have to put one down it is inevitably traumatic... I have a 14 year old basset who I know is getting close to the end of her journey, and dread the day where I'll have to make that decision. The one we make in love and kindness because they simply do not deserve to suffer. The only compensation for this will be the acquisition of a puppy ... not to replace her, but to begin yet another journey with a new member of my family.

Sorry for your loss, I know it sucks, I am still sad about the passing of Dooley, a great friend, a loyal companion, and a personal role model for me, because he was better than me.

We lost our traveling kitty back in December. We adopted another cat the other day.
It is hard when they go, but it is a very worthwhile equation. You hurt and miss them for a time, but that time is much shorter than the time they gave you friendship, companionship, and love. I guess 5 months is as much of a hiatus as I needed to be ready for another feline friend. A house just isn't a home without a cat- or 2-
So sorry for your loss. I've stood where you are standing, my friend.
