First Annual Blessing of the Pets
News from Longmont Colorado.
Yesterday the two cats that allow us to join them in their Airstream when we travel, performed the first Annual Blessing of Airstream Pets ceremony.
The first picture shows Tiger presenting the Invocation while the second is Daisy performing the blessing ritual.
Happy Airstream Holidays to all,
Ken & Susan

Too cute!
If I tried that with our cat, I'm sure I'd be wearing bandages for a few days...

The ceremony was not without its bad moments. Meesha, our retired traveling cat made a brief appearance, but then returned to the audience and took advantage of the fact that she is recovering from tail surgery by mooning the podium. There is one in every crowd.

So cute! Maybe instead of a cape, Meesha could have a little skirt to cover her tail until her fur grows back...

More news
Kougar, one of our stay at home cats, took the podium to give the attendees an opportunity to take advantage of an old American superstition. If you see a one eyed cat, spit on your thumb, press it to your palm and make a wish. The wish will come true. However, the audience was having difficulty finding their thumbs.
I asked Kougar to keep an eye out for some more information for me. He told me that Tiger, being of Asian ancestry, was teaching Daisy about Asian cultures. In Japan, a cat with its right paw raised will bring prosperity. That explains Daisy's pose. He was also able to obtain this photo of Tiger retrieving water from the Sacred Pink Pool.

Good vs Evil
Finally Ashlee and her sister Ember took the podium. Ashlee explained about the virtues of tortie cats, and Ember told how mean they could be if they wanted to.

Sad News
I am very sad to report that one of the cats in this thread passed away the day after Christmas. Meesha, the kitty in post #4 with the bare bottom, finally succumbed to the effects of diabetes.
We found her 15 1/2 years ago when we stopped at a wide spot beside US 50 in Nevada. She was eight weeks old and hiding in a Sage brush bush. We took her in our trailer for the rest of the vacation, and from then on she always traveled with us. She finally retired from traveling about a year ago when her health got to the point that she was better off staying home. Susan and I will miss her very much. I can also tell that her buddies Daisy and Panther are missing her quite a bit. The house doesn't seem the same. I know the sadness will eventually give way to good memories, and we will always think of her whenever we are in the trailer.
Regards,
Ken

I'm so sorry to hea about your loss. We recently lost Claire who was about 13. I still look for her in her favorite places. We will be traveling soon with oprah and Baby Cat, they both love the AS and all the windows. Tiger and Nubin' will keep the home fires burning while Picasso will go and visit his brother.

So sorry to hear about your loss. But I'm sure that she had a long and happy with you, you sure sound like wonderful cat parents. We also have an elderly cat who's health is starting to fail.
Love, love the pictures. Such fun! I could never get my cats to pose for pictures like that, especially wearing costumes.
But I have to ask, did someone get a new camera for Christmas?

Well actually my wife did get a new camera, but these pics weren't taken with it. They were from pictures we took for our Christmas card. A couple not very good scans of our card are below.
Thanks everyone for the thoughts,
Ken

I'm so very sorry to learn this. RIP little Meesha.
We also lost our beloved cat Bonnie on December 26th due to congestive heart failure. She never traveled with us, being a former feral we were concerned she'd escape from our camper and we'd never see her again. Her kitty family is really missing her (Buddy, Ellie and Misty) and her Mom and Dad's hearts are broken. I hope you are right that sadness will give way to good memories, at this point it doesn't seem that the pain from losing her will ever end.

So sorry for your loss of Bonnie. Time will make it better but losing a pet is just so hard. Somehow I wish these little creatures could be with us longer.

Thanks,
I have to make sure the credit goes to the right place. Susan designed the card and got the cats to pose by bribing them with treats.
All I did was snap a bunch of pictures with a good camera.

Ken

Thank you for the thoughts. I am very sad for you, Buddy, Ellie and Misty.
Cats have a very subtle but complex society, and when one member leaves, it takes a while for the others to get back to normal, and often the relationships between the remaining cats change a little.
Think back on the fun times Bonnie had with all of you.
Take Care,
Ken

Sounds like Meesha had a pretty wonderful life. She was so lucky to find parents like you. Thanks for bring her in . I am sure she never forgot it. As for me I have always had animals. At this stage in my life I always take in rescues. Please remember them.
