Wow, that's a really nice Christmas card! Wonderful creativity.
I'm completely jealous.

We found her 15 1/2 years ago when we stopped at a wide spot beside US 50 in Nevada. She was eight weeks old and hiding in a Sage brush bush. We took her in our trailer for the rest of the vacation, and from then on she always traveled with us. She finally retired from traveling about a year ago when her health got to the point that she was better off staying home. Susan and I will miss her very much. I can also tell that her buddies Daisy and Panther are missing her quite a bit. The house doesn't seem the same. I know the sadness will eventually give way to good memories, and we will always think of her whenever we are in the trailer.
Regards,
Ken
I'm so very sorry to learn this. RIP little Meesha.

We also lost our beloved cat Bonnie on December 26th due to congestive heart failure. She never traveled with us, being a former feral we were concerned she'd escape from our camper and we'd never see her again. Her kitty family is really missing her (Buddy, Ellie and Misty) and her Mom and Dad's hearts are broken. I hope you are right that sadness will give way to good memories, at this point it doesn't seem that the pain from losing her will ever end.

So sorry for your loss of Bonnie. Time will make it better but losing a pet is just so hard. Somehow I wish these little creatures could be with us longer.

Thanks,
I have to make sure the credit goes to the right place. Susan designed the card and got the cats to pose by bribing them with treats.
All I did was snap a bunch of pictures with a good camera.
Regards,
Ken

Thank you for the thoughts. I am very sad for you, Buddy, Ellie and Misty.
Cats have a very subtle but complex society, and when one member leaves, it takes a while for the others to get back to normal, and often the relationships between the remaining cats change a little.
Think back on the fun times Bonnie had with all of you.
Take Care,
Ken

Sounds like Meesha had a pretty wonderful life. She was so lucky to find parents like you. Thanks for bring her in . I am sure she never forgot it. As for me I have always had animals. At this stage in my life I always take in rescues. Please remember them.

I'm spooked by all of this. I saw and enjoyed Day the Earth Stood Still, Close Encounters, District 9, etc. I don't think many saw the one on-screen blooper when Klaatu's tail showed. But seeing Avatar last weekend brought this all back -- be afraid. Be very afraid. These cats are everywhere!

My daughter's cat even has a well-thumbed copy of To Serve Man under the bed. They're coming to take us away...

Cats are much to clever for that. They have already trained us to do their bidding. We procure and prepare their meals, provide them with shelter and all the attention they desire. We even clean their toilets daily. Eating us would not make good sense. They have already enslaved us. Sometime, sit and have a conversation with a cat , they would be happy to explain who is in charge.
I hope you feel more at ease now.
Regards,
Ken

For those who have (ever) lost a pet:

What is life?
It is the flash of a firefly in the night.
It is the breath of a buffalo in the winter time.
It is the shadow that runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

(Crowfoot~Chief of the Blackfeet)

I shall walk in the sun above
Whose golden light you loved.
I shall weep alone and stiring, touch an empty place.
I shall write uninterrupted.
Would that your gentle paw could stir my moving pen once again.
I shall see beauty, but none to match your living grace.
I shall hear music, but none so sweet as the droning song with which you loved me.
I shall fill my days, but I shall not, can not forget.
Sleep soft, dear friend, for while I live you shall not die.

(Michael Joseph)
