Janet...

Looks like you're all enjoying yourselves! We've never been where the Girls can play on the beach...these are desert dawgs! But it would be interesting...maybe we'll make it sometime soon!

TBRich, the way I worded my post was misleading. That's my daughter on the beach with the granddogs! Most beaches around this part of central CA don't allow dogs on the beach to be off-leash, but that photo was taken in very dog-friendly Carmel. If you come to the coast with your desert pooches, that's the place to go!

This is our "Sulley". Named after James P. Sullivan in Monsters, Inc. Sometimes he's a monster and sometimes he's not. He's two years old, loves camping, and has claimed his bed in one of the cubbies under our bed in the front cabin. He thinks of camping as a means to meet new people and new dogs!

Did I mention that he is a chow hound?

The last time I was through Carmel, I didn't have dogs. Now I can revisit with my boys and enjoy myself! Such a beautiful place! I really look forward to going back.

Go Early

While it's true that most of the beaches here in CA don't allow dogs, we have found (actually Debbie has found, I sleep in) that if you go early in the morning, you can get the dogs a good run on the beach. Attached are pix of our two bassetts cooling their heels in Yosemite and Mickey the Cat applying a half Nelson to Milo.

The TTs

This photo of Hoi and Dahli the Tibetan Terriers was taken during our last camping trip together, late June 2007.
http://www.airforums.com/photos/show...i=16405&c=3289

Only a few weeks earlier Hoi had been diagnosed with osteosarcoma and within a few days his pain was just too much to control. Dahli knew what he was battling and kept real close to her brother. We had sixteen and a half wonderful years with Hoi, only fifteen great ones with Dahli so far.

These are from our last trip to Buck Creek State Park in Springfield OH. Note that the dogs were not supposed to be on the furniture. I found them napping when I returned from the bathhouse. Below is Buddy and Ivy.

Dianne...

So sorry to hear about Hoi...it's so hard to let them go...we have been there, too, and we feel your loss. Take comfort in the many years of companionship you shared.

Yes, so sorry to hear about losing a family member like that. I'm sure you have many great memories and you still have your other four legged family member to love.
