daily floor care

We just upgraded from carpet to linoleum and found out just how much our dogs shed . What do you do for daily maintenance for your floor? Dust mop?, swiffer? or....... help?

A broom & dustpan while on the road, and a vacuum cleaner when we get home.

daily floor care

Greetings Ron and Debbie!

I travel with two Chihuahuas, one of which is a long coat and sheds continually. My Minuet has an Armstrong laminate floor while my Overlander has industrial grade Congoleum sheet vinyl floors. For both coaches, my solution has been the Swifter wet/damp process mopping system -- the moisture helps to capture the Chihuahuas' very fine fur and makes disposal nearly effortless. In addition, the moisture also helps to capture any dander that may be present for those who suffer from pet dander alllergies. Thus far, I have needed no more than two of the large boxes of Swifter refills to make it through a camping season.

Kevin

Our typical camping is boondocking at a National Forest Service (read that as dirt roads and camp sites, nothing paved) by a lake. In our 16', one of the kids sleeps on a sleeping bag on the floor. So, each night I sweep the floor with a hand broom, then go over it with a Swiffer so it's clean. The upside with a 16'er, it doesn't take very long....

I use to sweep but just started using a rechargable Black and Decker hand vac. It works great on both the laminate and the floor mats.

We usually open the door and screen and run both Fantastic fans in reverse! Works good for us.

I've done the sweep/pick up/pitch it back out the door routine, but I think I'll switch to the swiffer. It'll pick up the dust as well as debris. Thanks, Kevin, for the pointer. ~G

I intalled self cleaning floors .

Upon return or prior to leaving (generally the case since we track in a lot grass/grit during loading), use the the house vac.

When camping in a particularly dirty spot, either sweep or use an electric broom sort of thing that looks like a dustbuster on a stick and plugs in.

I purchased the laminate manufacturer's cleaning pruduct and spray it on, mop up. It does an amazing job - the floor looks and feels great after using it.

Thanks for all the feedback. Rick: I think we'll try that fan trick first!
