Cookie 1998-2007
Cookie, our trained attack Peek-A-Poo, died this morning just before we were to get ready to go to work. She has been a faithful companion and watchdog ever since we got her a a puppy as a companion for my father after the loss of my mother. She would have been 9 Christmas day.
She has been an evepresent part of our lives, keeping us out of trouble, watching our home and belongings, and being a constant companion when we were sick or hurt. When I was recovering from my injuries earlier this year, she never left my side, and woe to anyone that tried to mess with me.
Of everything that has happened to us over the course of the last year, this seems like the worst. I feel like crap.
Here is a picture I took of Cookie just yesterday, after we had played fetch. She was lying in her bed with one of her (hundreds of) toys.

Oh, Terry, I am SO sorry! What a sad thing to have happen. I know she had a great and happy life with you and your family and never wanted for anything. Lots of hugs and strength to you and Marie!

It sounds like you were lucky to have shared in each other's lives. Here's hoping that soon you will only remember the best of times!

I know that our words do little to ease the pain that you feel. The unconditional love that cookie had for you both will always be a treasured memory. I am sure that Cookie would want you to remember her with Joy.

Terry,
There's not much that we can say is there? I'm sorry seems too little and it is, but I am.
Last month we lost our 10 year old Boxer and on some level I can relate to what you're going through, but Cookie has been with you through thick and thin and your situation is unique. Recall your good times with her!

For all of us who consider our pets as members of our family and who have lost a dear one we can certainly understand the sadness you are feeling today (and for the days to come). Everytime we have to say goodbye to one of our babies we swear we will never get another one because it hurts too much to lose them. But we eventually miss the companionship and love and fall all over again for a sweet face or a lick on the hand and know it's time again to put our hearts back on the line. You always want to be as good of a person as your pet thinks you are. During this time of your sorrow take pleasure in remembering that Cookie probably thought you were pretty special too.

Terry and Marie, words are empty and tears come to my eyes. I'm so very very sorry to hear about Cookie. Who knew she would leave this earth so soon. No mater when our pets leave us, it's always too soon. I'm glad I had an opportunity to meet Cookie. She was precious and such a good little dog. My Mom fell in love with her too. Our most sincere sympathy, and a prayer that your empty heartache will ease quickly.

New star in the sky tonight
There will be a new star in the Heavens tonight, named Cookie. She will always be watching over you, guiding your path as you travel. Every time you look to the sky and see a shooting star, you will see Cookie chasing a ball across the Milkey Way.
She was such a loved and cherished friend. I am sad for your loss.

How very sad to lose your little buddy. It always leaves a hole in our hearts when one of our little furballs goes ahead. Cookie had a life full of love, attention, and all the toys a very good puppy deserves.
You are in our thoughts and prayers today.

photos from happier times
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and kind words. Cookie was born at 5:30am Christmas day, 1998. She was 8 year, 11 months, 20 days, and 15 minutes old.
Since we are fulltiming, we really have no back yard for her to be in, she will be interred at an undisclosed location near our trailer. And since she was a Christmas dog, we will keep Poinsettas on her gravesite as long as we are in the area. As for photos, my computer, where they were stored, suffered a catastrophic failure earlier this summer, and most of them were lost. We have them on discs, somewhere, but I of course can't find them. We have pictures of her as a puppy and young dog, and as soon as I can find someone to scan them into digital format, I will put them here.
For now, we just have a few pictures of her over the last few years, which I will include here. Some pictures of her also include Baby, our Siamese cat, that also passed away in the summer 0f 2006.
