Car seats for dogs

Wild-eyed Amos, the crazy granddog, hates the car seat. Bert, though, is asleep before we leave the driveway. If the dog will comply, car seats rule -- safe for dog and man and safer for upholstery. And small dogs get people-eye instead of Chihuahua-eye views of the world. Of course car seats don’t work for Lassie or Strongheart, but they’re perfect for Muffin and Fifi. Tinted windows help hold down the ridicule at the Flying J. Bert calmly did 10,000 miles last year in his car seat as we camped in five states. Amos did 250 miles and hated every inch. Your mileage may vary.

Are you speaking of the fleece-y "cups"- made of foam covered in fuzzy polar fleece that strap onto the regular seat? Those are great for dogs up to about 25 pounds. :-)

Dog Seats

If you have bigger ones- my littlest is 50 pounds- they make harnesses that clip into the seatbelt. They still allow the dogs to sit and lay down- but keep them in the back seat, and heaven forbid- from going through the windshield.
