Bandit

This afternoon our little girl Bandit passed away. She was not a big dog, but you could never convince her of that. She was only 15 pounds, but was able to make our 80 pound Lab back away. She was the boss of the dogs in our house. She was also our camping buddy for the last 17 1/2 years. Our other two girls Gracie and Smokie have been looking all over the house and yard for her. They miss her too.

Rest in Peace...

Bandit

Sorry to hear about your loss, Richard. I've never forgotten any dog I've had after they're gone. They are great buddies and I wish they could live longer.

Richard,

So sorry to hear this sad news. Time will heal the hurt, and hopefully it will be replaced with just great memories of the times your shared. Posting here, among your cyber friends, will help the healing process. We had to put our Basenji, of 14+ yrs., to sleep in April......not something that would I wish on anyone. We still forget that she's gone and, sometimes without thinking, expect to see her round a corner.

Our 4 legged family members never seem to live long enough. Y'all have our sympathies.

While I was growing up we 'lost' 2 or 3 dogs. Each time we did mom would say that, "We will not get another dog!...it's too difficult to take each loss!" But dad would find another and 'arranged' for it to 'stray' into our yard. The last such dog lived 16 years and well past my leaving home.

Richard, I'm sorry for your loss.
My little dog Gracie, who was with us for twelve years, passed away with me at her side three weeks ago. Unfortunatly it appears to have been a case of poisoning, but it was not necessarily intentional. She was an escape-artist, and would greet me outside our gate as often as inside. she could have gotten into something at a neighbors house(thinking positive here).
In any case, loss is loss, and it hurts. My condolences to you and yours.

Rich

No amount of words will help with your loss at this time. We had to put down "sempi" a year ago July, just after we bought the A/S. She was the greatest gift Jim (rustyrivet) ever gave me. After years and years of putting little furry pup on my wish list, Jim surprised me with my little malti-pek. She was my most failthful pal for just under 14 years. It broke both of our hearts when we had to put her to sleep. Even today over a year after her passing I thought how much I still miss her.
We understand your loss and will be thinking about you and send our prayers. Susan

Hi, Richard and Jan; I know the feeling. We had four dogs in our lives and all four went to doggie heaven; The last one lived the longest, only 12.5 years. It has been so hurtful that we have been pet-less for a few years now. On the last day of our last Random Trip, we picked up a hitch hiker. Could our first cat be in our future? It's hard to see in my picture, even if you click to enlarge it, but we have reminders of our pets/dogs with us in our travels.

(1.) Blackie Carbon, The Black Lab mix.

(2.) Champ, The pedigree Collie.

(3.) Benny, The pedigree Beagle.

(4.) Komaya, The pure bred mutt, in picture frame, Mother was purebred Maltese and father was purebred Silkie Terrier.

Richard,
Just got home and its goin on midnight. I'm so sorry about your loss. I will never forget when I had to put our 17 year old bull terrier Maya down and she died in my arms.

If you will allow me maybe this will put things in a little perspective. I work with child protective services. Today was a very bad day. I went out to a home to check on a couple of kids and found 2 starving dogs. Called animal control. One was so far gone he will probably have to be put down. Skin and bones could hardly walk. Flies all over. Then I had to go back and remove the 4 children who were being cared for by the grandmother. She was trying to do the best she could but the place was not safe and I couldn't let them stay I had taken the kids before from the mother who is a druggie now in jail. They obviously loved grandma as did grandma love them. But I couldn't let them stay. The fathers don't want the kids either.

So I feel for your loss and also feel for the kids who also lost their dogs today. They also lost thier grandmother today. I feel about the same as when I had to put Maya down and guess you feel about the same too. But I know Bandit had a full and wonderful dog life.

So know I will go to bed and have Judy and Farfel to keep me warm.

Sorry to hear it. They never live long enough, but 17 and a half is a good long time. Remember the good times!

It is indeed sad news. My thoughts are with you and hope that the pain is forgotten but never the love.

Hey Richard,

Sorry to read about your loss. It's always difficult to lose something you cherish and love like a pet. Seventeen + years is incredible. I trust you have thousands of good times to remember.

Regards,

Kevin

We are sorry to hear of your loss and hope that sweet memories soon overshadow your pain and grief.

We had to have our 13 year old "Gus" put down several years ago, and have still not quite gotten over it. We like to think he is still with us in spirit---sniffing excitedly everywhere we stop, curled up around the campfire, and of course, shedding everywhere.

I'm so sorry. Remember all the fun you had with him. I had a black lab for 12 years, when he died my heart was broken, it took me 4 long years before I was ready for another. Then Lucy came into our lives, what a ride it has been! She keeps us laughing everyday.

What a fortunate dog Bandit was to have had the love of a family for 17 1/2 years. I am sorry for your loss.

We're saddened to hear that Bandit has come to the end of her life's journey. She was a special family member and she is bound to be greatly missed for many years to come. Our sympathy to the rest of her pack,

Dianne, Bob and Tesla

Awwwweeee, I am so sorry for your loss. Looks like a lot of us understand your heavy heart. My little girl was diagnosed with a devistating kidney condition and I fear loosing her soon. My stomach is in knots 24/7. I hope you find some comfort in the compassion expressed here...
