We decided to take our lab Belle with us to the Tetons this past week instead of the kennel. Save some money and let her have fun...

Well we went up to Yellowstone and I didn't want to leave her in the car while we explored so I tied her to the table at the camp ground...

When we got back she was gone.... No why she pulled that knot lose I told my wife, I was a white water rafting guide and Mountain guide for a total of 7 years... Mean while she called in vain, then I found the note from the Ranger...

Well there was nothing in the paper work we got from the NP about not tying your dog up outside... so off to the ranger station to pick her up The Ranger said she was bear bait... I said have you had a dog that big eaten by a bear, he said no... Still got a ticket for $85.00

Look, my dog has chased bears.. I can see one of those little dogs getting eaten... The Ranger told me I should have asked...

I said You should have it in your hand out... He said" ignorance in no excuse." I thought of some choice words to share with him but wanted to spend the rest of the time with my family so I shut up and left...

Didn't blame Belle she was great about the whole situation... I even took her off the rope to let her swim in Jackson lake... Hey dogs gotta have fun too..... And poo poo on the Ranger.....

Sorry, but I'm with the ranger on this one. I think leaving a dog tied up and unattended in that situation is not a good idea in several ways.

Having had a bear experience at Jellystone I agree. Our OES barking from inside the tent did scare the critter away. But it could have been quite different had he been tied outside. When the sun came up we couldn't believe the number of tracks around the campsite. The hikers in the next site who were ground camping in bags only were more than a little shaken up.

Please re-consider, say thank-you Mr. Ranger.

I agree though $85.00 is a tough lesson.

We weren't' in Yellowstone we were at Colter bay and it was from 10am- 5pm or whenever they picked her up...

I'm just saying they should have it written out somewhere in their paperwork and not give out a ticket if they don't..... Whether you agree with leaving her out or not is up to you, I was just giving my rant on no instructions for dogs and then getting a ticket for it.... Bad policy if you ask me...

If I had been in Yellowstone she would have been in the trailer... Colter bay hadn't seen a bear in 3 weeks....
