| A moment for our Wally: November, 94-December 23, 2008
We now have joined the fellowship of so many of you who have shared the stories of losing your loved pets. Our old Weimaraner, Ozark Walnut or Wally, finally told us yesterday that he was just too achey and weary. We thought we would have to help him on at Thanksgiving, but he rallied, resumed slow rambles around our pond, let little two year old Amber rub his ears and sit on his back gently, all his favorites. But gradually, he weakened until yesterday afternoon, his hind quarters just stopped working. His passing with the aid of our veterinarian and with all of us around him was peaceful, just the nicest closure to the life of a great dog that I can imagine. We'll miss him achingly, but we know he's now young and muscled and energetic again in that land across the Rainbow Bridge. Besides, he was met by his "cousin" Skippy, our daughter's Yellow Lab, and they are wrestling and playing, best friends once again. Wally, we loved you. You were a great dog, our good and faithful friend. Missed so much by Moose, German Shorthair; Jack, Yellow Lab; G and M and family.
