I want to thank everyone for the amazing advice! I have just gotten home from picking up the Sequoia, it is in great shape from what the mechanic says, and it looks and drives amazingly well! I should be picking up the airstream in the next few days, I'll let you know how it goes

Again, I want to thank all of you for the plethora of advice and things to think about!

Scout59, what kind of a hitch are you running for your 30'? Also, do you ever tow with the Sequoia and what do you tow? I didn't notice any strange shifting but I will be on the lookout for it! I'm surprised that they think the brakes are undersized, from my understanding they are the same ones from the tundra, and when the vehicle was produced, they were the largest in class, and even larger than some of the 3/4 ton trucks. I'm wondering if it is the pad choice coupled with a softer rotor material. I will definitely be watching the brakes!
I looked up the rotors for you GMC and they are the same diameter as the Tundra, but the GMC weigh about 10 lb more per rotor... Lots of extra metal for heat dissipation.

I vaguely recall that the Toyota Tundra TRD has bigger brakes than the Tundra with the towing package. If this is correct, the dealer would know, and since the Tundra and Sequoia are basically the same, perhaps you might consider upgrading to the TRD brakes. If not, there are also aftermarket brakes that may be an upgrade: Powerslot, Hawk, EBC (got this info from the Tundra Solutions Forum).

The tow rating has changed because it is being measured against the SAE standard now. There is no actual difference in towing capacity.

The Suburban is also much more crashworthy, and I don’t have to explain where it was built😎
Sorry, guess we should have asked you when it would be okay for us to call our vehicles reliable.

Actually Suburban are built in three plants one of which is in Mexico. Tundras are built in Texas.

The Sequoias are made in Princeton, Indiana. Though these days with quality controls I'm not too worried about where something is made provided that it is a quality name behind it.

I've had numerous foreign cars including my last one, a Toyota Tundra pickup. Owned for 4 years and never had to go into the shop for anything.

Just bought a new 2017 Ford F-250. We've had a lot of rain here in Texas and Today, I discovered by truck, with less than 2000 miles on it, has a wet and moldy carpet. Looks like I have a serious leak somewhere. Want to ask me which vehicle I consider most reliable?

If Toyota ever decide to make a 3/4 ton truck...it would be game over. Currently using a 2010 F250 super duty with 80k miles. 2 sets of exhaust manifolds replaced at $ 3,000.00 a set, also having intermittent stalling problem. It's a company truck so no pain to me. If it was mine....I would have shot it by now. My personal truck a Dodge Ram 1500 has over 200k miles I had a 86 Toyota pu that gave me 260k trouble free miles. Chevrolet..... '86 Camaro is all I'm gonna say..... Hadn't looked at Chevy since,...... and to death.

Both my Chevys, one diesel one gas, over 300k miles and still strong. All in the maintenance and know-how of the owner. Toyota? Wouldn’t have it in the driveway.

Well you better have more than 70,000 miles. That’s nothing.

If you have to repeatedly say where it was built...just sayin’

Love it when truck guys get all riled up!

I agree. I have been waiting since the redesigned Tundra came out in 2007 for a 3/4 ton model.

Methinks Country Boy is the only one getting riled up 😂

I had a Toyota Camry with 168K trouble free miles. Only had to change one taillight bulb! Of course all periodic maintenance was done. Got rear ended; car was totaled. Replaced it with (guess what?) another Camry. It’s still young (84K) miles but is following in the footsteps of #1.
So when it came time for a TV, getting the Tundra was a no brainer. Toyota is what you’ll find in my driveway!

Wow. That Sequoia looks really great.
It's a great pleasure to drive. My 2008 has 138,000 miles and runs like brand new.

Recommend considerations for the following simple and easy to use Weight Distribution/anti sway hitchs:
1. Equilizer
2. Reese StediFlex
3. Blue Ox

I'm with you there. Wish I had one. Once upon a time I had to choose between a split window and school. I went to school. Still not sure I made the right choice.

Can't say much except we have a Blue Ox and it it works great. Dealer mentioned that they are becoming very popular.

Toyota could drop the 1/2, and only make a 3/4 truck, and still sell a ton of vehicles. Keep in mind Toyota is made in U.S.A., my Dodge...Mexico.

Toyo-Ta ! Sounds like something a kamikaze pilot would be crying out crashing into a US carrier at Midway. :-)
