Wonder if you could put drainage lines in the ruts? Good luck on the trailer, congratulations on getting the truck out.

Luckily it was unhooked from the trailer when I buried it. So I used a HiLift jack (with an attachment that hooks on the wheels) and jacked up each tire, filled in as much mud as I could beneath the tires, and placed boards and 2 x 4 sheets of plywood under each tire. That was enough to get the truck moving. I drove it forward and to the left and circled back towards the parking pad (which was directly behind the trailer and truck). But the truck then got stuck in the middle of the yard. I was smart enough to stop and not bury the truck again. I have a Jeep, so with the Jeep sitting on the gravel pad, I hooked 2 two straps and a chain to get enough length to reach the truck (? 30 feet?). The jeep in 4-Low was able to pull the truck forward until it was on the parking pad.

The trailer is still there and will require a tractor to get it out. A friend has a tractor with a front bucked and a ball mount on the bucket. He will come over and get in front of the trailer, lift the tongue on the ball, and simply drive it backward onto the pad.

But for now, the truck is out and I'm happy. It was stuck for 4 months.

Good for you so far...(have you reconsidered my suggestion about selling the house with "mother in law" trailer/quarters in the rear? LOL Hope your able to get your AS out and enjoy the spring time camping!

As the AS still needs saving...

The tip that Adventure first gave should not be overlooked. It makes a HUGE difference when dealing with any soft surface to keep the tires on top of the terrain. Also minimize potential damage to the surface.

Whatever strategy you use, I'd highly encourage you air way down, possibly to 25psi. If you are going to u-turn the trailer, don't air down as it potentially can pop a tire bead. But for forward or backward, will really help.

Success!

Final update. Got the truck out last weekend but the trailer was still there. It’s been sunny and 60s for 5 days so the ground was relatively dry. I got a jeep in front of the trailer and hitched it up. Then I used 4x2 plywood sheets behind the jeep rear tires to back up onto. I only had 4 pieces so I had to keep moving the sheets of plywood to stay on them (not sure how to explain that but hopefully it makes sense). Once on the gravel pad, I unhooked the jeep and hooked up the F250. I needed the wider mirrors on the truck to back it through the gate. Then I was able to turn the trailer and truck around and back through the gate again and onto the gravel pad.

Thanks to everybody for the advice. Definitely saved me from making an even bigger mess! And if I didn’t use your suggestion, just know that I stored it in the memory banks for the next time!

Not PLANNING on doing it again. But I've met me, and I know how I am. hahahaha Such is life - sometimes we find ourselves in situations and wonder how in the world we got here and how are we going to get out of this.

And yes, plenty of stories for the future. Trust me, my friends have had a great time giving me grief over this entire situation! I'm the talk of the neighborhood as well. People have been stopping as they drive by (neighbors that I've never actually met) to tell me how happy they are to see the truck and trailer out of the mud. Many of them tell me their own story about "this one time...." when they learned how soft the ground is in our neighborhood.

I always say I need a videographer/photographer to just hang out and follow me and my friends around all day. I could make a TV show like ridiculousness on a weekly basis.

I used to say the same thing. My attorney advised against it.

Where to attach tow strap to rear of Airstream 25FC

Yeah, some of us are “fun to watch” at times. I’m not sure I’m ready to share all the silliness in real time, however...I get enough flack from DW and daughter as it is...

My wife has seen me and broken her fair share of stuff off road so luckily she understands.

She walked outside the other day and just started laughing. My 2yo has a little electric razor motorcycle and i ride him around on it all over. I got that spark of inspiration. Well the neighbor has a couple little 50s. She came out to see me on one of the 50s wearing my sk8board knee pads doing donuts dragging my knees.(Rode street bikes my whole life) All the neighbors were out watching the hilarity.

And the final product!

So the gravel pad was placed so that I could build an RV cover. And here it is!

Sweet! After a tough winter, trailer, truck, and owner should be "Happy Campers".

What are the dimensions of your gravel pad & shelter.
Did you build it from a kit or have it installed?

I dug one out of my grade in a corner of my lot and have considered a similar type of shelter.

The gravel is 60 x 24. The cover is 32 x 24 x 12
